With Little Nightmares 3 on the horizon, fans of the eerie puzzle-platformer are eager to step back into its dark universe. This time, the game offers an online multiplayer experience — something new to the series. But with so many players across different platforms, a common question arises: Can friends on different devices explore the Spiral together?

Is Little Nightmares 3 Crossplay Or Cross Platform

Little Nightmares 3 includes some form of crossplay but comes with limits. The game allows players from the same console family to play together online. So, someone using a PS4 can join with a PS5 user. Similarly, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S users can also team up.

However, there's no support for cross-platform gaming between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or Nintendo Switch users. That means players on different console types or systems cannot connect in the game.

The game offers only online co-op — there is no couch or local multiplayer option. Still, there’s a positive aspect: the Friends Pass feature. With this, only one player needs to own the game online with a friend. The second player does not need to buy a copy.

To keep the eerie mood of the world intact, voice chat is not built-in. Players will need to use third-party apps to talk. In-game communication is limited to a “call” action, which helps players signal one another during gameplay.

You can also enjoy the game solo. It offers separate save slots so that you can keep one for single-player and another for multiplayer.

Below is a simple look at the crossplay support across platforms:

Platform

Xbox OneXbox Series X/SSame-family only

Little Nightmares 3: Online Play and Co-Op Options

The game is designed with online multiplayer, but not for players in the same room. There is no split-screen option, which may disappoint some couch co-op fans.

Still, Friends Pass helps reduce the barrier for multiplayer. If one player owns the title, they can invite a friend to join without needing them to buy it.

However, there is no shared voice system in the game. Players can still communicate using services like Discord or console party chats. To interact in the game, you’ll rely on a button that allows your character to call or signal the other player.

Little Nightmares 3: Launch and Supported Platforms

Little Nightmares 3 was scheduled for release in 2024 and is now expected to launch soon, though the exact release date has not yet been officially confirmed. The game is set to be available on the following platforms:
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PC
While the game spans several platforms, players should note that crossplay is limited and only available within the same console ecosystem.
