Players on different systems can now play Overwatch together, similar to how it works in
Overwatch 2 cross platform play. Whether you're using a console like Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or a PC, crossplay allows everyone to join matches as a team, with just a few setup steps required.

The cross-platform play feature is active across all the devices Overwatch supports. Here’s a quick comparison table:

Setting Up Your Account for Crossplay In Overwatch

  • Console Users: You must create a Battle.net profile and link it to your system's account.
  • PC Users: No action is needed — your Battle.net account is already linked.
Steps to Link Accounts:
  • Head to Battle.net
  • Make a free profile
  • Go to Account Settings
  • Click “Connections.”
  • Add your console profile
In-Game Linking Guide (Console):
  • Open Overwatch on your console
  • On the welcome screen, you’ll see a code and a QR code
  • Either scan the QR or go to blizzard.com/link
  • Enter the code and log in with Battle.net
  • Once done, a message confirms your accounts are connected

Game Progress and Competitive Mode

  • Stats and unlocked items won’t transfer between systems.

Once you link your accounts, your Battletag will show during matches. Your console name might still be visible in friend lists or rankings.
  • Real names appear only if allowed in settings.
  • Adding someone in-game adds them as a Battle.net friend.
  • Console-only adds must be done through the console’s interface.
  • Disabling crossplay hides your Battle.net friends list.
Voice Chat and Moderation:
  • Chat works across all systems
  • You can still report, mute, or block anyone, even across platforms

How Matchmaking Works In Overwatch

  • All play modes support crossplay, except competitive

Playing Together:
  • Console and PC users can group in casual modes
  • These mixed groups enter PC matchmaking.
