Something that doesn't add up, why is Sony so conformable announcing all these PS5/PC GaaS game with no date but feels the need to hide what their other studios are working on. What it looks like is that these games are going to take ages to come out and we have no guarantee that we'll have anything big besides FFVII Rebirth, Death Stranding and another Marvel game as far as single player exclusive for 2024.

That is just weak for such a successful console, why are they so scared to invest on the PS5 while MS is willing to throw billions and billions on the flop that is Xbox? I have had a bad feeling ever since that Silent Hill 2 by Bloomberg announcement I don't trust that Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst get the appeal of Sony games.

We are looking at every studio going into 5+ years dev cycles while also potentially wasting extra time on GaaS games (like seems to be the case for ND).

That plus they probably don't want to announce any single player games until they get FF 16 and Spiderman out the way.

My point was made, you trying to mince my words won't change that.
??? Does not compute. You made a specious comparison to ResetEra that has nothing to do with why that site is made fun of. So why bring ResetEra in besides to be insulting?

Also, the person you're defending as "not a troll" has a known history of trolling so I'm not sure that's such a great hill to die on lol

I think ALOT of the negativity, justifiably so, is because Sony themselves didn’t manage expectations properly. They never used the term “phase 2,” that was a Jeff grubb term. I think Sony should’ve come and said “We want to show you our first wave of online games, some Japanese rpgs, a beloved franchise making its return, and few other surprises.” That right there would’ve set the tone and expectations. Instead they let the internet think they’re buying take 2 and making Bloodborne 2. You have to rein it in a little.

I voted 4 and that’s mainly because of the pacing. The indie games sprinkled in between every big game got old fast and kicking things off with service games was a bad idea. Havens game looks genuinely horrible conceptually to me so that already put a bad taste in my mouth. Mgs3 not being exclusive is a head scratcher too.

I do kind of wonder what average Joe gamer thought about it. He probably didn’t see the show but he will see individual games with PlayStation marketing and maybe for casuals and people who don’t post on message boards who track the industry every day it might have been good to them?

Its more than that, it's been almost 2 years and this is all they have? Jim Ryan can fuck right off.

So you're actually comparing a £70 'AAA' game...with a showcase. Only adamsapple 😁
dumb-stupid-people.gif

I'm not putting any dollar value here lol, if I was, I'd ask Sony for money back for the hour.

Most of it was a 3rd-party showcase. Those same games would get you all hyped if they were on Xbox showcase. They probably will be there too on June 11. We'll see if you keep saying they're all shit games.

Why? Such a stupid strategy. Their competition is at an all time low and they just gave them a chance to come back from the grave.

If somehow Xbox ends up turning things around and bullying Sony with all their money it's going to be a well deserved for Sony. They had a chance to do something special like they did in 2016 and fumbled hard.

Sony now release their games on Steam while Valve doesn't bother releasing any of their games on PlayStation, Sony also releases games like Marathon on Xbox while MS pays to remove games like Starfield from PlayStation. Fuck this low energy version of Sony.

That is what happens when you get too comfortable with your success. That you feel the need to not put any sort of effort, but then again Xbox is in the same page as well when it comes to showing what games they are working on, seems like Sony took the page right off of Microsoft.

No need to show Wolverine when Spidey is so close to release. Of course they will promote Spidey first. I would do that too.
You're right, that makes sense.

Obviously, if they would have announced all they have (not only Wolverine or TLOU Online) in the store today, then they wouldn't have anything to announce during many years.

They gave the spotlight to some games today. They'll show them more in future events, where they'll announce other games (now Twisted Metal comes to mind too).

I assume Cory's new IP, Wolverine, Twisted Metal, Horizon MP game, Team Asobi's next game will be saved for next year in order to show them when they are a year or less from release.

I agree! Which is why they shouldn't have done a showcase. Unless they had to for investors? But even so it's weird even wut the 3rd party content they had, it seems they were scrambling with those too.

They definitely left the door open to get knocked down and I fully expect Xbox to try and strike while Sony wounded themselves.

But my gut is telling me they really have nothing to show.

Usually, they announce it around June or July. I don't remember the last Nintendo Direct they had around those dates. But I assume they will. Cause they have games like Pikmin 4 and other games and who knows they will announce a DLC for TOTK.
Cool, thanks. I also assume that with TotK they will be selling a ton of games and consoles for a while, so they won't want to give the spotlight from this game.

I think they may not do a big Nintendo Direct soon, and if they do it one would be fosed on random 3rd parties and indies, in addition to a Pikmin specific one. Other than that, I think they'll save their next big announcements to announce them as crossgen Switch 2 launch titles (I bet a Mario and a Mario Kart plus Metroid Prime 4).

So exciting, more Marvel, Twised Metal, Horizon MP... 3+ years to get a PSVR2 game from Team Asobi... MGS3 remake by unamed dev...

Haven and Firewalks games need to be something insanely different and mind blowing when we get gameplay because nothing there shows me why these teams should've been bought

Especially when we've got other start ups out there doing games like this

These obviously won't be the only games. There will be a lot of great games more.

As an example, in a few days we'll have FFXVI and Street Fighter 6.

PlayStation = Movies, Series, GaaS, PC, mobile, Xbox

What does SF6 has to do with Sony? You just named two PC games by the way, Sony just paid for one to be delayed.

At this point I'm considering becoming a PS+ only PlayStation player. I'm not feeling like they are catering to me anymore, so I should give them the bare minimum support. If they want to become Xbox I'll act like an Xbox player.

This show was an all time low for Sony. At least the PS3 craziness was exciting, what we saw today was just lame.

Of all the GAAS games they showed, they didn't show Factions.

What a missed opportunity. If not their big annual showcase, when?
