I meant to say single player new IP AAA.

If you take out Bend other than SSM I don't know where it could come from:
Bend GaaS?
Santa Momica New IP?
Naughty Dog is probably working on TLoU Pt III in addition to Factions.
Guerrilla is confirmed to be working on more Horizon.
Insomniac has Spider-man 2 and Wolverine after that.
Sucker Punch is likely making GoT2
Bluepoint never made a game of their own.
Media Molecule and Team Asobi are hardly AAA studios.

That's about it. Sony doesn't have that many studios when you take out the GaaS stuff (that explains the upcoming lack of single player games).

Right now it looks like we could go an entire gen with just Returnal and SSM new IP as the "big" new IPs introduced this gen.
Well we aren't gonna get New IP's alone from Worldwide Studios. We got Forespoken this year ( not first party) but it counts. I thought it was quite an enjoyable game.

The next Housemarque game will also be a New IP. Plus I'm sure there are other (2nd party new IP's brewing).

I really hate what they have done to Insomniac making them a marvel factory, but I guess financially it's best for them.

At least Remaster Resistance trilogy? That's one of my gripes. They have such a rich back catalog. Remaster and remake some of these PS1 / PS2 / PS3 classics and pad out your roster. It goes a long way with fan-service . I just don't get why they hate their legacy so much. Get Bluepoint on these things, expand them to have a BC division..

I also think they have another game in the works with Sumo Digital, plus more fruits to bear from Project Hero in China, and they just expanded to India. And Shu is doing good work with Indies.

The showcase was such a mess it's clouded he future when it seemed so bright and clear before. But expect outside Studios to be the ones dropping the new IP's. In Sony's defense the introduced many new IP's last generation, it would be dumb to not follow up with sequels.

Sony gets credit for a flopped New IP by SE? I think stuff like Death Stranding, Detroit and Bloodborne count despite not being first-party but just third-party deal don't count for me, those game would most likely exist regardless.

The way they handle their catalog is depressing, really makes me hope that some day they put a guy at the top that just gets it.

As for the Chinese stuff, all vapor ware from unproven studios until proven other wise.

The future is clouded because the assumption that Sony was holding on to their cards kinds goes away when it comes time for the grand reveal and then they just show a hand full of GaaS.

The game looks amazing to this day. Need to do a 60fps play through. Wish it was a bit shorter.

Way shorter haha. I enjoyed the game but I was surprised when I thought I was finishing and all of a sudden a new quest chain started with like 2% progression counter

We already knew Haven and Firesprite were making GaaS. What did you expect out of them? Other than for Haven's to not have an utterly trash premise, of course.

This is confusing. Some people say the studio didn't actually pitch a sequel, whereas others say that Jimbo Fail and Hermen Lazy refused it. Where do we stand?

Considering the ending of the first game, I firmly believe the former, but I can't say I'm sure.
Jeff Ross said DG2 pitch was killed by the Bend studio head Chris Reese.

Reese fired Garvin and eventually Ross quit after failing to figure out another idea.

I honestly think ND is not working yet on TLOU III but rather on a new IP.
