Do you guys think this is really the direction Playstation wants to go in or investors are demanding they go this way?
If Sony wants to transform themselves into the GAAS service company, why dont they invest in some of the Japanese publishers theyre close with and have them make timed exclusive single player games while the first parties do the GAAS service stuff? Kind of like first party shell companies i guess. I mean if theyve given up single player, which sounds like they have, then why not at least lay a foundation so someone else can do it for you?

Imagine if sony didnt have insomniac, what sinlge player first party games would we have this year going into next? We're xbox with besthesda now 🤣🤣🤣

Sony stole Xbox's playbook or something?
It's looking more and more like this each day. That Jim Ryan somehow decided thef failure of Xbox's play anywhere strategy and shitty pc games was something they wanted to emulate. PS5 is probably just going to be my machine for any game that's not on geforce now going into the future. What a shitty brand Jim ryan has turned Playstation into

No I am saying they had a working build of Factions back in 2019 and they scrapped it. They should have stayed on the path of previous games. Single player + Multiplayer addition.
True, they were working on a Factions mode for TLOU2. It started to be too ambitious, and they needed to release TLOU2.

Typically, what it's done it's to tone down the scope of the project cutting secondary/optional/droppable things that still have to be implemented, in this case for the MP mode.

Instead of that what they decided was to move the MP mode to a separete standalone game, and instead of dropping these secondary/optional/droppable ideas to reduce the scope, to do the opposite: doubling down on them and grow the scope.

By doing that, they reduced a lot the TLOU2 delay and allowed them to assing extra resources to ship the game. While at the same time, they were going to be able to fullfill their ambitions in the MP side instead of released very limited version of what they had envisioned.

Dude, game will be cancelled.

I think it will be fine. They have probably done alot of the world in 4 years. Now they need to focus on the single player games as they have probably been working on at the same time

and Haven's Fairgame getting more dislikes on youtube 🤣

Fairgame and Concord must have potential if Factions 2 and Deviation Games project are canned.

Who knows.

Sony need to realise that GaaS is a specialist genre.

They bought Bungie. They could have purchased the developers of Rocket League, Fall guys etc. Epic isn’t richer than Sony.

Leave Naughty Dog and others to develop Single player games.

naughty dog put out a statement pretty much confirming development is having issues. Playstation is literally killing itself in real time chasing this GaaS dragon
I dont get why it means there is development issues. Loads of games need more time, better to do that

Bungie was the studio that helped Naughty Dog to make Uncharted 2 multiplayer engine. I guess not many people know this?
Interesting, first time I heard about it.

But I went to check the Uncharted 2 game credits, and Bungie only appears in the "thanks" section (not even in "extra special thanks" or "special thanks"). There are many other studios there such as Media Molecule, Ready at Dawn or Infinity Ward:

Let's put one of our best single player studios to work on a GaaS, a genre so competitive that only a tiny fraction of all games made actually find some success, and then shitcan the project because another studio we bought says so.

This whole thing sounds like a shitshow. Let Bungie make these crappy multiplayers games and let your single player studios do what they do best.

I sure hope they fuck off with chasing this bs trend.

Who thought it was a good idea to take studios built around making top tier single player narrative games and pushing them to make multiplayer GAAS?

Now the game / games are in development hell and not to mention the opportunity cost of it all.... we could have had an epic single player game 20+ hour experience by now. We would at least have had a reveal....

This management duo of Jim and Hermen really isn't good for me.

I would like to know how many other studios have been hurt by their mismanagement. They were handed the keys to a well oiled machine.... now it's starting to look like a broke down jalopy.
