I liked it, the host jokes about last year drama was funnier than Chris Rock’s comedy special, there I said it.

It was obvious the documentary Navalny would would win. It was a policial statement.

I have no idea what happened to lady Gaga, the same singer who wore crazy outfits, went to perform at the Oscars with a black t-shirt and ripped jeans but I liked it.

Me and everyone on twitter got confused by that gay guy thanking his “wife”

Michelle Yeoh winning was expected and I think the best movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was a statement from the academy rewarding creativity.

Glad the Oscars didn’t got policial but backstage journalists are once again focusing on it with stupid questions…

I loved Everything Everywhere all at Once, but I think it doesn't deserve some of these.

Tár and Marverick were better movies but I can understand the choice of EEAAO.

If you follow the same EEAAO choice the documentary “How Do You Measure a Year?” should have won too.

I still have no idea why anyone should care about what an anonymous "academy" panel comprised of Hollywood narcissists thinks about entertainment. They haven't really been in line with public opinion for decades.

Maverick was the movie of the year, it was the only movie I heard anyone talk about and not a single person I know disliked it. Skinamarink will probably end up being my favourite movie of this year and it won't be recognized at the oscars at all.

Like they basically completely ignore horror and comedy because there is a snobbish notion that the best movies cannot be "low class" bangers. Shove your pretentious garbage up your ass.

Your comment can be resumed to this bunch of ignorance. Everything Everywhere All at Once is mostly an absurd comedy movie. Go watch it before talking out of your ass.

Not interested, I read the wiki.

It's being billed an absurdist comedy but I can safely bet this will not be discussed in anyone's favourite comedy films of all time. Pure comedies have only been highlighted a small handful of times in the academy's life. The best comedies, the ones most people will cite when asked what their favourite comedies are, are never considered for best pictures at Oscar time. Horror might as well not even exist. It's a well known feature of the oscars that they don't really recognize anything considered low brow, famously snubbing TDKR for even a nomination in favour of a bunch of pretentious picks.

You just made his point, how can you not like something that you haven’t saw? How can you really judge it?

It’s a science fiction action comedy, not saying it’s for everyone but the movie is not very high brow.

If you are complaining I have no idea what would be your reaction if your saw the Cannes festival winners for example… those are really artsy and hard movies.

I didn't judge it exactly I said I wasn't interested, and that I don't think it will ever top anyone's best comedy list.

Sure but this year's winner doesn't really erase the reality of what I'm saying re: the greatest comedies and horror movies of all time, they are largely ignored by the academy. The academy is literally the industry high brow awards it's hardly arguable. They generally pass on things that were popular at the box office in favour of things that are, according to them, more worthy of praise. Which of course is their prerogative and not necessarily going to result in poor choices, but at some point I wonder why I should care about the recommendations of people who never recommend the things I enjoy the most. Basically I'm much more interested in people's choice awards not pedo's choice awards.

Titanic, Avatar and Wakanda and other movies are clear examples that box office movies do win or get nominated.

But my biggest issues with the Oscar’s were that phase when they were all policial.

If the Oscar’s didn’t shine a spotlight in lesser movies nobody would knew they exist… so I’m glad they still do it. If the Oscar’s were peoples choice marvel movies would win all the time…

I don't see anything wrong with that really, it's the other side of the coin but we only talk about the academy. MTV used to do people's choice awards and they were far more entertaining television programs, and relevant to my tastes. They were fun and not pretentious awards. They made jokes on the stage, not political speeches. The academy is such a bunch of fart sniffers.

Ah, nice, then you must be an expert in judging the quality of the movie.

While it is true you can't always judge a book by it's cover, a good percentage of the time you can judge whether or not something is up your alley by reading a plot synopsis. Maybe I even would enjoy the movie, but not being interested is not the same thing as giving a judgement.

"horror movies get passed on"

I appreciate your cursory googling but this more or less demonstrates what I'm saying and "low brow" classics are not considered for awards. 18 awards for horror in 92 years is not really demonstrating that they think there is much worth highlighting in the genre. It'd be kind of absurd if they didn't recognize any in almost 100 years of course, but again this just speaks to the fact that I'd be much more interested in a consumer's choice awards.

But a comedy won most of the awards...

I think it just your tastes doesn't match the Oscar indications.

But every year I make a maraton in the months before Oscar just to see the movies they indicated and to be fair very few times I got disapointed... there are quality in most movies they indicated... it is really nice to watch them.

BTW even thinking Marverik and Túr are better movies than Everything Everywhere All at Once... their choice is not bad at all because Everything Everywhere All at Once is really great and actual... few movies can have the strong impact it has and to be fair most comedies don't.
