Pretty interesting perspective from one of the designers of the PSVR1 (doesn't work for Sony anymore)

key points:
-overall impressive leap forward, but isn't perfect
-lots of features for the price point, good bang-for-your-buck
-tethered to console/no standalone is the right way to approach console VR
-headband slipping is a struggle with her long hair
-finding sweetspot is a fiddly experience, fresnel lenses are a cost-saving measure but have a smaller sweetspot
-likes the controllers' features but finds them confusing to put on with the headset on
-audio solution is cost-saving, but she says Sony has data that says that most people getting it will be core gamers who like to use their own headsets or surround sound setups
-thinks sony could have done a better job with the messaging of VR needing a few sessions to get acclimated.

Bonus quote from part 2: "There's a dream in my pipe that Sony will continue to be PC-friendly and eventually unlock the system as PC-compatible, but that would mean opening up their walled garden to let Steam come in and play with their customers, and I can't see any business sense behind them doing that, for now or in the longer term. It feels like a shame. But that trade-off means PSVR2 can put all it's effort in offering a best-in-class experience for that singular, but predominant use-case - playing amazingly immersive VR games. On that front, it feels like it won't be beaten for a good while, and the recent teases around a PS5 Pro in the next couple of years will see a viable upgrade path in the future that offers even more processing grunt, much like PS4 pro did for the original PSVR."
The only thing I don’t like :

- the fit isn’t as comfortable as the originals, old one had better support
- no hardware volume on included phones pisses me off
- I’m no fan of the lenses. Preferred the original coke bottles even if with lower FOV

Everything else is superb

I don't know about this one Tom!!!

It is good, but feels rushed with underwhelming animation. The relatively long loading times suggests the game was built for PSVR1 on PS4. You can see it is not optimized very well for PS5 as it has weaker graphics than most PSVR2 games.

The game has tense jump scares, enjoyable roll coaster moments, and very nice gun shooting.

Switchback is really good and enjoyable, but it isn't a most have. Not at its current price.

I remember Dead Space had image blur bug that made it look bad. Switchback might have a foveted rendering/ vrs problem.

Everyone looks at the graphics but forget the most important thing about PSVR2. It's comfortable and doesn't cause dizziness even after playing for few hours.
It took me 4 hour of playing before I started to feel little tired. I was never able to survive 10 minutes with other VR headsets.
That's kind of me with Quest and Psvr1 but here my eyes just get tired after awhile. It's been working great for me besides that which is natural.

Soooo...

Just put in a three hour Resi Evil Village PSVR2 session with my son (taking turns between saves) and I cannot convey more strongly how fucking awesome this game is in VR. I mean I played the other one also in VR and loved it but this feels just so much better, controls great and looks awesome. Having so much fun with this and so is my son.

dude prefers the psvr2 version to pc with a 4090 due to the controllers. Things I noticed, shadows are better on pc, higher resolution in general, reflections seem to be only specular highlights on PSVR2 but actually some sort of reflections (can't tell if they're raytraced) on PC. But all in all the visual upgrades running maxed out on a 4090 are minor enough that I don't think it's that noticeable. Dude also said he got some frame drops on PC whereas PSVR2 was smooth af

Yeah. That's why is kinda embarrassing switchback releasing the way it is. I fell like Sony trust them while sending support to the walking dead. And I don't think is using foveated rendering either.

Switchback is a wasted opportunity. I just finished the ride and would comeback again if they find away to improve games resolution.
Maybe that real time flashlight and shadows are what taxing the GPU. However, I don't find a reason for the lackluster animation.
