News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

I've said over and over again PC is not about this "master race" shit. 3060 is the most popular gpu and still gives better performance than PS5. Weird how console dead enders are suddenly 4090 elitists.

News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

I have a 6700, a 3060, and a steam deck. I don't generally subscribe to extremely high end PC gaming, this "PCMR" nonsense. But if a PC oriented dev (like GSC for ex) goes the extra mile to use high end features, thats sick.

Discussion Predecessor (Paragon remake) coming to consoles this fall! |UP| Open Beta Trailer.

We'll see if Predecessor has the same feel as Paragon. I learned more about Dota2 from playing Paragon than watching competitive live streams.

News "The juice isn't worth the squeeze" Shawn Layden on day and date PS Studios (single player) games for pc

Layden lays his whole plan out, that MMO and f2p come out day one, and single player games come out 2-3 years down the after Playstation exclusive sales "flatline". But yesterday's price is not today's price. That was Laydens plan. Jim Ryan and Hulst have gotten more aggressive. Totoki says...

News "The juice isn't worth the squeeze" Shawn Layden on day and date PS Studios (single player) games for pc

Helldivers already complicates this idea, since it's neither MMO or free to play. It's obvious if you can practically double your important early sales by launching on PS5+PC, do it. There's no special reason why Helldivers is different from Last of Us 3. Helldivers wouldn't be tearing up their...

News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

Not true at all. The rise of Playstation actually led to a decline in high end game development. What you're holding up as "AAA" today on PS5 is at least 1.5 generations behind what a 3070-based PC could do if it was the minimum requirement. Remember wolfenstein, doom, quake, crysis, etc. You've...

News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

You said "it sucks", but it's way better. Anyone at Sony who proposes a reimagined Cell processor for PS6 would be ejected from the building. If youre interested in CPU architectures in general as a hobby, there's still lots of innovation to follow. Pining for the bad old days of console...

News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

As somebody who installed OtherOS on my PS3 and ran my own SPU code, I honestly don't understand why ^ sucks. It's better for everybody that developers are working on hardware they're very comfortable with, and they don't need to target radically different targets. This is not a useful...

Discussion Does traditional PC gaming have a future?

The "some people" who think this are leaders at Playstation. If you want console exclusives, and you want production values to grow, then obviously consoles need to grow. The top selling console of all time was PS2, which launched 24 years ago. Even if all Playstations sold in the ballpark of...

News Shawn layden interview When your costs for a game exceed $200 million, exclusivity is your Achilles’ heel.

This is fire so far. Near the end, he is asked whether the console is still important. He said both Playstation and Xbox are basically AMD consoles, they're virtually identical inside and between those and a high end PC, they're all able to provide the same kind of experience. This is in...

With the latest iPhones capable of playing Death Stranding, I don't know why you wouldn't aggressively port every ps4 catalog game to iOS immediately.

Fans of Baldurs Gate 3 in China could be a tiny percent compared with GaaS games and still an objectively large number of players by global standards.
