I don’t think it flopped because it’s multiplat,
I think these games are flopping because they’re not interesting. Who asked for a Lego horizon game? Who is that even for?
Forspoken probably would have done decent if they stuck with the protagonist as a White woman. (Agnis philosophy demo.)
Anyways I hate to say I’m just waiting for the inevitable Microsoft buyout. It looks like Sony has missed their window to make a move if they ever really did plan on it and...
Honestly SE isnt in the greatest position atm so this actually is concerning. Sony really shouldve thought long term and at least invested into some Japanese publishers but setting 4.4 billion dollars on fire with bungie and concord really sets them back budget wise. Oh well.
Xbox spent over 70 billion dollars and made so many concessions for the deal to go through for a negative bump in hardware sales and for COD sales to collapse on their platform.
Im guessing this is what happened. Square tripping over themselves to go multiplat when theyve basically had a first party relationship makes me think sony decided it wasnt worth it anymore.
If this Truly was Hermans "baby" i think he needs a demotion or needs to take a walk too. Such poor foresight at a time when sony is bleeding partners that used to exclusively work with them almost every day now. Imagine what a 400 million dollar investment in SE could do or 400 million in money...
Man sony needs to make some moves quick in Japan. Between PC really taking off and Switch 2 potentially powerful enough to run ports, sony is about to get boxed out. They may no longer be the defacto "HD" exlusive platform and have no first party in the region to speak of besides Gran Turismo...
If i did my math correct, So if COD sells 10 million at full price for 70 dollars on PS5 before sony wouldve made 140 million and at 30 percent theyd make 210 million. So almost half the budget of Concord!
My take away from the X finally eclipsing S sales isnt that the X suddenly gained this surge in popularity, but probaly the bottom has fallen out for the Series S. In 2024 the S isnt nearly as good a deal as it seemed earlier in the generation and the constant negativity around it probably is...
