    Japan is pretty lenient on anti-trust. There are only a handful of instances which will flag. Even then, it's more likely a question of whether there will be a delay as a result of an investigation, than an outright block in this context.

    The only thing about a Japanese company like Sony purchasing Kadokawa (which would be a pretty pricy acquistion) is it might get held up by Japanese anti-trust laws.

    Kadokawa is huge. Like... decades old staple of the Japanese business industry huge. I don't see how this could be possible, unless they're only in talks to acquire subsets of the company.

    I didn't think Shadow of the Erdtree was going to be eligible for GotY. My only commentary was that I empathize with the reasoning behind its nomination. By scope of content standards, it's on par with a full length title, and it has the highest Metacritic score of 2024.
