Because it will happen at the end of the month and maybe if the complaints and negative Steam reviews are high enough, they will backtrack the PSN linking required and make it optional.

Most Playstation ports are at very positive on Steam, some at overwhelmengly positive (at least God of War and Spider-Man last I checked).
What PC players don't like is account linking. This shitshow could have been avoided if the linking was required from day 1.
Valve has a completely different structure compared to Sony (flat hierarchy). And they value creative freedom and IP ownership above all else.

For example, unless Sony/Arrowhead comes up with an easy solution, people in the Philippines can't play the game anymore, rendering their purchase as useless.
PSN is not available in a ton of regions. If you play Helldivers 2 on Steam and you live in a country that doesn't support PSN accounts, you are locked out of the game.
I think Steam is available in like 200 regions and PSN is in 74 regions or something like that.
The interesting about this is that you don't have any numbers. We know very little about how SP games sell on PC, but since devs and pubs keep releasing on PC, I assume they sell well.
The weekly reports Mat and Dring does doesn't tell us much about PC sales.
