Rumor Kotaku: Concord budget was $200M which did not include marketing, the sale of IP rights or the acquisition of the studio

@John Elden Ring Higher than 200M: Probably one internal delay plus the possibility that the COVID boom probably inflated the salaries of new hires in 2020-2021(remember Concord is in Bellevue Washignton which is in the Greater Seattle game dev area). Competition and Venture Capital money was...

News Firewalk Studios is being shut down

The only player metric we have was the Steam beta and that showed Day on Day drops past launch. The vast majority of people who gave the game a try did not stick around unlike many other FPS games.

News Firewalk Studios is being shut down

Loud weirdos are not that influential. The game was not the right fit for the market, consumers rejected it.

News Firewalk Studios is being shut down

I think we all saw this coming. SIE has been in cost cutting measures recently and a studio that lost quite a bit of money and is looking at 5-6 years until their next game is not going to be kept, especially with Seattle/Bellevue Washington levels of salaries.

Multiplatform Indiana Jones | First Previews are up

Easy, execs/shareholders would. They're only looking at numbers, how much value is my IP compared to the others giant IPs. GTA vs CoD vs Mario type vibes, y'know?

Nintendo Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Coming March 20th, 2025 (Nintendo Switch)

God damn the budget on that game must've been about 1000 ramen cups, haha. That resolution is damn low but also the grass in that image looks like vomit, bad art choice on that front. Fake Edit: I actually googled and they seemingly released 4 .hack games in quick succession instead of one big...

Multiplatform Indiana Jones | First Previews are up

First instinct def was to compare to Uncharted, but I guess the series has been MIA since 2017 with The Lost Legacy. Anyhow, it is big wishful thinking on his part. Indiana Jones game is very late to the party, especially with what happened in 2023(and the years prior). Harrison Ford likes...

News Most gamers prefer single player games - via Midia Research

That singular graph in the OP only tells us what kind of games people of different age prefer on a personal level. It doesn't tell us their spending habits or how much time they spend on them. For example, I could absolutely be a RPG guy and the couple hundred hours spent on 2-3 RPGs during a...

News Bungie's Marathon video update with new info released

@Yurinka Title is incorrect, no gameplay to be seen. I really feel like this update was made because Bungie's current predicament as well as some of the rumours when it comes to the project's current state. I would say that the move is probably not the right one considering "prove" to the...

Review Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Review Thread

Asia is not into Bioware titles. If you check reviews breakdown by language on Steam you'll see that they're a very small minority compared to more modern games. Main reason for that is that EA didn't support them. Looking at Steam for languages supported for Dragon Age: Dragon Age: Origins...

Review Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Review Thread

----- Looking at the current reviews, it looks to be a very divisive game if you don't look at the aggregate score but rather at the review spread.

News Dead Island 2 Surpasses 10 Million Players

No. All that we know is that Dambuster(UK Studio) took over the project in 2019 and released the game in 2023. UK Salary 140 employees in 2019 172 in 2021 I'm sure the game made a significant profit considering they had an EGS deal and now also got the Gamepass/PS+ bag on top of the hard...

News Dead Island 2 Surpasses 10 Million Players

https://gamingbolt.com/dead-island-2-has-sold-over-3-million-copies That's as of March 2024. The game came out on Steam in April 2024(it was an EGS timed exclusive) and estimates says about 300-350k. So Dead Island 2 is currently somewhere between 3.5M and 4M.

News Most gamers prefer single player games - via Midia Research

Most won't, the vast majority of players spend no money or like $10-20 bucks. Millions upon millions of players paying a smaller amount (plus a few weirdos paying hundreds/thousands) is more revenue, there's a reason the model works. Even if somebody pays more in the end, the psychological...

News Most gamers prefer single player games - via Midia Research

The issue with this is that approach is that now you've got a SP game that has a MP component that has a reduced audience because a lot of MP people who would want to play that mode don't want to pay the premium price tag. There's so many games nowadays, the average player's taste is way more...

News Sonic x Shadow Generations sold 1 million units on it's first day

Obviously it wasn't as cheap as RGG games or P3R but Metaphor is probably cheaper than what we think even with the very lengthy development time. For sure the biggest budget of a game for them though, just by looking at the different credits for Atlus games and comparing this one. Anyhow, you...

News Sonic x Shadow Generations sold 1 million units on it's first day

Franchise/Studio fans get mega hyped for "fastest selling" announcements. There's a reason SEGA has done that for Like a Dragon/P3R/Metaphor. The fact that SEGA is happy to announce that tells us how cheap these games are to make tbh. Plenty of those SEGA series have survived many years with a...
