I was kind of hoping MS was going to force them to switch to a different engine or at least help them with theirs.... Maybe for their next game? Or later in the development of this one.
They'll spend a ton of time trying to optimize it I'm sure. Oh well..

Anyway I did like Deathloop… it was one of last year best releases and my second choice for GOTY.
They deserve zero credit for Deathloop. It was supposed to come out less than 2 months after they were acquired but it was delayed a few months. That was all Bethesda. Same for Redfall, Starfield, Ghostwire. Microsoft was not involved at all.

Bethesda games should never be mentioned as proof that Xbox are "turned things around" and making first-party games. They paid for exclusivity and that's it. Next people will celebrate MS for COD 🙄

Nothing about praise... MS has nothing to do with it.

I'm just saying the game is probably the big release MS will do this year for Xbox.
And it is really a great game imo.

Word, with all its issues, missing features and mediocrity. Then thy held onto Sea of Thieves like it was some AAA GOTY blockbuster smh. Sad state for Microsoft. I really do wish things were better.
This reminds me of when I reached my breaking point with Xbox

I was looking at their future lineup and there was State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves it was pretty bad

Starfield? It looked awful.

Gonna be the best RPG released next year, but you do you.

I'm not poking fun I'm honestly curious, what is all confirmed for Xbox's 2023?

I know of

Starfield
Stalker 2
Forza
Redfall

Exclusives (timed or otherwise) releasing in the first half of the year:

Starfield
Redfall
Forza Motorsport
Replaced
Ark II
STALKER II * this may get delayed because of real world shit

Likely in second half:

Hellblade 2
Project Midnight (Compulsion games, makers of We Happy Few)
Cobalt (InXile's next WRPG)
Avowed

I'm not including other things like Fable, Coalition's next game etc in here cause they're lesser likely but it's a whole year and a half left. And then there's all the game pass day 1 games I'm not gonna bother listing here, and if/when the Activision deal goes through, add a bunch more to it.

Xbox owners eating good in just the first half of 2023, second half is a mystery buffet still left to be revealed.

With the exception of Hellblade 2 and maybe Starfield I think this list is lacking oomph

Keep in mind we only have a list of first half of 2022 games because that's what they wanted their E3 to focus on. The rest of the year is almost entirely a blank slate, I expect a couple more of their projects in gestation to release in H2 2023 as well.

And we don't know what studios like Double Fine have been doing since Psychonauts 2 came out. Anything from them will instantly be highly relevant.

I disagree. I think some of the last 360 years were worse. I remember years where it was just Forza, some Kinect junk, and some XBLA games.

2022 is lacking, but that can happen when 2021 was great and 2023 looks to be great. I think GamePass prevents it from being the worst Microsoft has done thus far.

Yup this year hasn't been good for Xbox 1st party releases. It has been a generation since Xbox relied on 1st party for success though as evidenced by their continued success selling consoles and promoting Game pass. The biggest game of the year is on Xbox so despite all the delays their is plenty to play.

As @adamsapple already mentioned next year will have plenty of 1st party games so if MS can find success with few new 1st party titles now, next year will bring even more success and that is not even mentioning all the new Game pass games coming after their most recent acquisition closes. I think Xbox will be OK.

I'm all in for Redfall, Starfield and Stalker 2. Don't know why Microsoft only went after 3 months of timed exclusivity for Stalker 2. I would love to see Microsoft acquire GSC Gameworld as I can see Stalker 2 being a massive hit as it looks really fucking good.

All in for Hellblade 2 an interested in Avowed. Really want to see Compulsion's game which is supposed to be a third person single player story driven action adventure game. My only concern is that my gut tells me that the visuals and art style will be similar to We Happy Few which I hope isn't the case. Also interested in InXile's game which is said to be a first person steampunk RPG.

Coalition could always shock people with their new IP even though I would have preferred Gears 6 first and then the new IP. Hoping Fable is Playground's The Witcher 3 and humor is kept to a minimum. There's also the rumored beat em up game from Stoic (Banner Saga) and the already announced Contraband from Avalanche Studios which I really want to see gameplay of. And none of this includes all the unannounced rumored games like IO Interactive's MMORPG, the Wu-Tang Clan game or the Monster Hunter type game Certain Affinity is working on.

Microsoft has a massive fucking ton of games coming. They just need to finally get some of them out the fucking door in 2023!!

GSC Game World is based in Ukraine, thus still affected by the ongoing war. No one should try to buy them with so much uncertainty and doubt.
"3 months of timed exclusivity for Stalker 2" Should not be a problem, it is a 3rd party game.. Getting it on Game Pass day one is all that should matter.

Hellblade 2, is really a weird one as it was the 1st one to be announced in 2019. By accounts Ninja Theory has been working on Hellblade 2 since at least 2018, maybe the scale and scope of Hellblade 2 is that much bigger than the 1st Hellblade that it taking them going on 5 plus years to make, plus using full Unreal Engine 5, my guess is when Covid hit in 2020 it really mess up their schedule, not being able to do MOCAP and such has set them back at least a full year of lost time.

Avowed is another game using Unreal Engine 5, that has also been worked on for a long time. Everyone was expecting to see 'gameplay' at the Showcase, but nothing was shown. 2023 might be very well a huge year for Xbox finally, if there are no more delay that is. We could very well see Hellblade 2 and Avowed in the 2nd half of 2023.

Fable is a long ways away, late 2024 -- early 2025 at least. Still way to early to even talk about.

Coalition is moving everything to Unreal Engine 5. It gone to take them a while also before we see anything from them expect 2024 at the earliest.

I believe InXile's 'rumor' RPG is also using Unreal Engine 5 yeah expect 2024 at the earliest from that also.

Basically all of the Xbox 1st party games confirmed to be using UE5 is gone to take a long long time before we see anything.
I wish for Hellblade 2 and Avowed to be late 2023 games, but i doubt it. It will probably be 2024.

Now with Contraband that is Xbox Global Publishing game, 1st party game but made by a 3rd party studio. Now that i can see it being a 2023 game.

For that 'rumor' "Wu-Tang Clan game" It sounds like to me it might be something like Pentiment / As Dusk Falls, a small AA type style Indie Game that my guess. So we can very well see that in 2023 also.

I killed for a Forza Motorsport in 2022 right now. No i believe 2022 is really the worst year in term of Xbox 1st Party game release. Basically we have zero 1st party studio AAA game none whatsoever in 2022.

You know im a Xbox & PC player 1st and will always be, but i have put well over 10 grand of my own money into them. I pay for 2 plus years of added Game Pass so mine will expire in 2024. I have spend tons and tons of money on gaming stuff the most towards Microsoft. So unless Microsoft pays me to simp for them or anyone else for that matter, Sony, Nintendo etc... I won't simp for no company anymore, if they mess up or is bad for my wallet i will call them out on it. At the end of the day we are all consumer they take our money nothing is free so i feel no obligation to simp for no damn billion / trillion dollar corporation..

I'm fed and satisfied with all the great first-party games and PS+, 2022 in particular is fucking crazy. The console is amazing too. I have no idea why I'm supposed to be pissed.

I remember you made a big list but it was all a bunch of rubbish shit no one cares about (besides the xbots of course).

Have fun waiting 🥰
