Just a year ago across the same period, mobile, console, and PC earnings were £658m/$795m, £612m/$740m, and £520m/$628m respectively, which means only its mobile business has increased its net revenue year-on-year: console revenue, on the other hand, has almost halved….

With MS buyout yet to be approved, what are MS plans for Activision. More focus on mobile, less focus on Console? Perhaps stronger push for a mobile like experience on Console/pc; of which has already been organically gaining a foothold with F2P GaaS become more prevalent each year….

It's really not good looking good. just constant bad news for activision for the past few years it seems like, really. I guess their poor quality products are catching up to them.

the kind of lazy game design they're known for is a much better fit for mobile.

It's a terrible trend and I am afraid there is no stopping it.

Just look at the Diablo immortal garbage, even after the massive backlash, it's still making a shit load of money.

No wonder Bobby wanted to sell. Sexual misconduct scandals, inability to ship games not named CoD, unions forming, sales declining.

Its sad the console numbers are down.

Mobile numbers are probably up because more and more people with phones play games now. People like dad and grandma even lol.
Mobile numbers up shouldn’t particularly mean console numbers down. They should both go up.

But I think after covid all console/Pc purchase numbers will be down?

King revenue increased YoY, also Diablo Immortal was just released. Which adds to the mobile revenue...while Vanguard was a bit of a dud, we still need to wait for Overwatch2, Diablo4 and MW2... So pretty much what we will see whole year, mobile > console+pc for ActiBliz.

am I the only one who thinks stuff like Tony Hawk and Crash Bandicoot are entirely worthless in today's market? I mean I understand the nostalgia, but in today's market, I'd be doing a double-take myself if i was the exec in charge of greenlighting a sequel.

If COD falls I see really no IP of value in their entire repertoire. Seems like a brand way past its prime, more than any sex scandals or whatever. Cod too, it all looks like it's dated and dying content from yesteryear.

As I always say: Good riddance to bad garbage.

Yeah, but by 50%? No way. And that's just revenue; if that's down by 50% there's no telling what amount their console profit may've been affected (tho revenue being sharply down doesn't necessarily mean net profit saw a similar drop).

I guess console software sales for them were just pretty bad, as we already know Vanguard is the softest COD in a good while sales-wise. Guessing their revenue will recover though when the new COD drops in the fall.

With ABK they'll rise their gaming revenue and mostly will get stronger on mobile, while also securing great stuff for Gamepass. They'll get stronger in PC and consoles. Consoles in plural, not specifically Xbox because their focus on AAA they kept moving it away from Xbox to Gamepass and specially PC, while slowly moving to become 3rd party keeping multiplatform top acquired multiplatform IPs.

I assume their 'day one on GP' strategy will mean to sacrifice gaming division income, and their 'day one on PC' will mean to sacrifice Xbox (console, not division) revenue and income. So I assume they want to compensate it by getting many revenue and income from selling games on other consoles via these acquired very popular IPs that they keep multiplatform like Minecraft, the Bethesda ones and the Activision Blizzard ones, even if I think they'll keep (at least timed) console exclusive some of the smaller acquired IPs and at least some of the new ones (beyond any pending deal they may have). In consoles I also expect them to bring several big Activision Blizzard IPs to Switch even if it's via cloud.

You can see the PS fanboys trying to get ahead of it and already damage control for potentially not getting versions of upcoming games from Acti/Blizz LOL..

I hope MS pulls Diablo off of PS after Diablo IV, and puts it only on PC and Xbox. Same with Crash, Spyro, and all the others.

Pull all of these teams off Playstation devices and focus completely on PC and Xbox.

does anyone on console play PC-style games like Diablo?

And a new Spyro or Crash would get embarrassed in todays market. they'd be more 60-rated games for xbox, and then everyone would comment on how xbox killed these franchises. MS would probably come out worse for it, lmao.

Yes, they do. Diablo sells well on console.

And a new Spyro or Crash would be great.

If I were MS, I'd spend the money and specifically NOT release them on Playstation, as a personal fuck you to Sony. 😊

Mobile is evolving to the point where Nintendo handhelds will become a thing of the past.

This is just the beginning. There’s gonna be real game’s being made.

except the switch is a console as well. lol try again

switch is going to pass the PS2 when all is said and done and enshrine itself as the #1 videogame brand of all time. Switch is literally synonymous with videogames for an entire generation of people. 110 million and counting.

"bu bu it dun have Cawaduty and maddun on it"

no one cares.
