Probably will be shown during the showcase next month as Sony hinted they have two more GAAS releasing this fiscal year. For those that dont know the sequel to this will be much bigger budget and be in 3rd person perspective and not isometric.

Would be a nice game to start the year.

I played the original with a friend, is it really going to move to a 3rd person's perspective? it won't even be the same game anymore.

Yeah Arrowhead are going for a “Returnal moment“ basically.

Swedish/Finnish longtime external partner of Sony makes their first ever AAA 3rd person game on PS5.

Tone and core game loop will probably be the same as the original, more or less.

Drop in, hit the objectives, get out. Try not to die lol.

Always wanted to play Helldivers but always passed on it because every video/article I watched/read said it was difficult if playing solo so while I wouldn't have minded the isometric camera view returning as I do like isometric games, my main question is, will I be able to play through the game entirely solo?

All these co-op games always have one major concern for me before anything else - can I play it 100% solo? lol

Imo Helldivers is 100% a co-op game, you can of course, try it solo but damn me, it's so easy to get over run, especially as a new player.

The game can be unforgiving and frustrating in solo, death is literally around every corner.

i needed friends to constantly res my dumb arse so many times lol

Well, that sucks. Hoping they change this for the sequel. They should make the difficulty scale based on how many players are playing the game.

Yes, Helldivers was a small good well received game, so I think it makes sense to expect them to make a sequel and it's normal to see them to grow to AAA for their next PS exclusive.

I see it being another coop shooter and also a GaaS to fit Sony's graph. I could see them making it more forgiving regarding difficulty specially for single player and adding some quality narrative as usual in Sony games.

If turns out to perform well enough or be promising, I see Sony buying them after this long relationship: Sony doesn't have any studio in Sweden, so having them there would help them get Swedish talent plus also getting a studio very successful with coop.

What I don't see it's a 2022 PC release for Helldivers 2. It wouldn't fit with Sony's plans of no PC day one releases and wouldn't fit the rate of 1 guess correct vs 15 guesses failed of the Nvidia list for Sony's PC releases.

Its most likely being marketed as one of sonys GAAS titles so I doubt it. It’s roots are co-op

Its basically a shooter-survival game like dead nation. For some reason I keep picturing this looking like Arc Raiders, it would be some shit if it does and Sonys beats them to punch

Hope the roots get changed to solo play. lol

We'll see how it is when they eventually reveal it. Hoping I can play it solo but not expecting it.

Arc Raiders looks pretty good but that is a pure co-op game right?

Helldivers is not meant to be played solo, except for the baby easy levels.

You don’t need a party, but you should always call for randos to drop in and help. It’s a co-op PvE game.

That's disappointing. Would like to be able to play solo but if this is one of Sony's live service games, I guess it would make sense to not allow solo play.

They could release Helldivers 2 (their GaaS live-service MP games) day one on PC.

As player count often defines success for these MP LS games, it makes sense to release them on multiple platforms -- especially if they plan to monetize with in-game purchases.

You technically can play it alone, but you’ll die a lot and suck.

It’s a multiplayer game.

Helldivers was Sony‘s first PC game in 2015.

Helldivers 2 is 100% a PC day 1 release. Or as soon as they can manage.

Arrowhead have already said it’s for PS5 and PC.

No, Sony said they don't plan to release their games day one on PC, they said they don't plan to release PS+PC games on the current fiscal year or in the one that ends in 2026 and they already announced all the pc ports they will release this fiscal year according to the amount of pc ports they said they were going to release.

They could release it as a GaaS on PS this fiscal year and then in a later fiscal year (typically 2 or more years later) they could release it in PC.

These guys make coop paid games, the ones you play with friends. No huge userbase needed. Huge userbases are needed for competitive F2P games. I think this game won't be competitive and won't be F2P.

For Sony it's important to keep their games exclusive at least for enough time, because their more important business isn't the 1st party game revenues: it's its console and specially revenue from 3rd party games. They won't risk that to get a B tier game selling a few units more.

I think that the only chance that it has to be released day one on PC it's that Sony sold the IP to somebody else and that Sony isn't funding and publishing this game.

And it leaked on NVidia list, aside from horizon its the only playstation game to leak before its release for pc, or in this case announcement
According to the Nvidia list Gran Turismo 7, Demon's Souls, Deracine, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon 2, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal or Sackboy should be already on Steam. Where are they?

And why the list didn't list the next 3 Sony games to be ported to PC after the Uncharted Collection (PC port already announced before they published the list, where this game was listed to be released at the same time than the PS5 version)?

I think its different cause Arrowhead already makes their own PC Ports.

Unless Sony sold them the IP and they are making the game with other publisher (I doubt it), Sony is the owner of the IP, the publisher of the game and the one who funds it. Which means Sony decides in the platforms where the game gets released and when.
