If sony doesnt have an exclusivity deal with this particular game then maybe this is the first sign of western devs ignoring xbox at initial launch to focus on the places it will actually sell? Almost like their rapidly losing marketshare worldwide, grooming of the fanbase not to buy games, and reliance on a rental service instead of the tried and tested way to make money is catching up with them?

I'd love it if more mid budget developers skipped Xbox more and more, since those users are so quick to expect those types of games for free on GamePass.

Somebody on ERA tried to "redefine" history saying WRPGs are more popular on Xbox.
Somebody else just killed him with a CDPR doc with Witcher 3 selling OVER THREE TIMES on PS than Xbox.

Userbase after all matter when you choose which platforms to work.

So where come that narrative WRPG on Xbox is popular? The same issues a Japanese game has on Xbox it will have with a WRPG... nobody buy games there.
that's a good question, games like fallout 4 and witcher 3 sold significantly better on PS. Hogwarts recently too.

They keep pushing this Xbox being the home of WRPG propaganda after the bethesda buyout

certainly Fable is a irrelevant vapourware and a dead IP...

not sure where the whole Xbox = WRPG stuff is coming from. hopium i guess.

I don’t think they will skip it.

They probably will potencialize sales in others platforms before make a deal to develop and put the game on Gamepass late.

That was a scenario I already predicted when Gamepass was announced with the day one PR bullshit… no publisher/developer will get day one there unless MS open the wallet with big amounts.

It doesnt get brought up often but most of the big games actually go to ps plus first. So not only is there a year or 2 long exclusivity time period for some games, but then theres a exclsuive time period before games can go to gamepass.

Microsoft own the best WRPG studios, IP's and talent. Old school devs like Obsidian, Black Isle and Interplay are under the Microsoft umbrella. Now that MS own Zenimax, they also have Fallout and TES under their wing.

That makes Xbox the default home for WRPGs. Or at least it would be, if they would release any fucking games. To think they own the original Fallout studios and the Fallout Ip and haven't remastered Fallout 1, 2 or tactics for consoles, shows that they are clueless about games.

Why MS refuse to give themselves easy wins is beyond me.

They indeed own.
But they released anything?

Facts are that WRPGs sells way better on PS due the userbase… in a hypothetical scenario if Starfield come to PS5 it should sell way more than on Series.

Wasteland 3 came out in 2018 and they haven't even announced Wasteland 4, nearly 5 years later. Disgusting.

even the elder scrolls 6 not being out by now is insane. why are we even entertaining a wait this long? MS should have seen the value in getting TES6 out ASAP.

They're good games, but 10 years is absolutely ridiculous. Far better games like Witcher 3 and Zelda take much less to develop. No more excuses.

And they have to nerve to say wait until next decade, lmao. Like the games are made of pure Gold or something.

2026 at the earliest for TES. Microsoft development studios are a mess.

Insomniac pumps out games for fun and were picked up for $250 million. Yet a $7 billion company can't churn out their mainline franchise in under a decade?

The crazy part is ES6 will likely not even come out until the next generation, since that team still hasn't wrapped up Starfield.

TES wont be out untill 2030.
Its 2023 and they re still working on Starfield. Last tes was 12 years ago.
Xbox management s mess. Matt Botty and Phile have no clue about games. Using contractors for games. Considering market share, more and more devs ll leave Bethesda in future. Games re more and more complex. There s no way they ll release tes in 2026. At best 2028.

Twitter is blowing up all over, check the comments on the announcement too.
They don't understand what market dominance does for exclusivity, there is no need to buy exclusivity when you have this kind of lead.

Remember the ps2 days? There were so many games that devs did not even bother porting to the other platforms.

No other platform holder offers their own support studios to third party devs like Sony does. I would say thats going beyond the bare minimum or else everyone would do it.
All platform holders have a team to help with developer techinical issues... that is not new.
The bare mininum is to that team help the developer.
Why it is working with Sony and not MS is unknow to me.
