As one door closes another one opens.

With the amount pf WRPGs becoming Microsoft property this was expected to happen.

Same will happen when COD becomes exclusive.

Watch the likes of EA make deals with Sony to fill in the gap.
I recall after Battlefield 4 it felt like the series could one day either catch up to CoD or even surpass it.

Obviously, they had to ruin that.

I'm still confused as to why they decided to do two World war themed games back to back, that's when all momentum was killed and allowed COD to regain its footing with modern warfare. imagine if a modern battlefield had came out with the graphics of battlefield V.

Does it have the same online only requirement like on PC?

In that case, it's a pass for me.

They sh*t the bed with the police themed game.

Yeah, if it was, Sony would have mentioned it in the show like they did the VR games. I think Jez ended up deleting his tweet about it as well. Kinda funny that they're mad about this when Xbox have bought up almost every other major WRPG developer aside from CDPR.

another xbox podcaster throws in the towel. missing so many games must suck, and its only going to get worse as the gen goes on.

I wonder if/when developers will talk about how unhinged and dangerous the xbox fanbase has become and how microsoft seemingly encourages it? This is lunatic fringe sort of stuff.

i guess this one cuts deep, it's a western made game this time. I mean everyone sort of expects xbox to be skipped on japanese stuff, but a WRPG?

Just goes to show what i said about MS's acquisitions biting them in the ass. Sony has no choice but to respond by locking down similar content. Less games for everyone involved.

as for the no exclusivity deal, I don't buy it. Clearly Sony or Larian has expedited the porting process to get the PS5 release to come out day and date with PC.

Marketshare could also be a factor, but i dunno... seems suspect.

I do think that after the activsion deal was announced that in the april/may/june months of 2022 sony probably went crazy with the third party timed exclsuive deals. I wouldnt be surprised if the next mainline Tales of (Has a history of being a PS exclsuive) game would be exclusive for example. Im curious what their acquisition strategy is now too now that microsoft has shown just how far they are willing to go.

Somebody on ERA tried to "redefine" history saying WRPGs are more popular on Xbox.
Somebody else just killed him with a CDPR doc with Witcher 3 selling OVER THREE TIMES on PS than Xbox.

Userbase after all matter when you choose which platforms to work.

So where come that narrative WRPG on Xbox is popular? The same issues a Japanese game has on Xbox it will have with a WRPG... nobody buy games there.

Their initial reaction if something isn't announced for Xbox is that Sony must have done something to block it where in actuality, for many cases, the devs just wanted to focus on the more popular platform first and do other versions afterwards.

The Gamepass doesn't help the situation either.
I believe some publishers/developers rater choose to launch on Gamepass later than release it simultaneos on all platforms.

IMO I should not release a game on a platform that I will get very little sales from.
In a business scenario is better to wait after launch and make a upfront deal to release it on Gamepass I guess... after all you are better with $30 million than selling 1 million at discounted price.

xbots behaving as a ravenous cult once again, thanks to Jez and friends. For being such a minority they truly are an unhinged fanbase. Fresh off the attack of Chris Ding. MS execs like Phil and Greenberg encourage this behavior by hanging out with these people.
