As soon as you separate Steam from the rest of PC gaming the picture looks completely different.
Bigger percentage of console userbase is Gen Alpha and Gen Z vs PC. People also like to act as if PC is your gaming desktop when laptops are a bigger slice for the young players, they are not buying gaming PCs.
Core gaming is bigger on consoles, but the market is big on PC obviously.

Or you could just not play bad games. Bethesda games are trash no matter how many cheats you add.
Any boomers playing on mobile and PC dont even consider themselves gamers, the occasional Candy Crush and Sims session should not count in this.
They really are not bad. They are fun games that are loved by millions.
Just my personal taste. I tend to hate make-your-own fun sandbox games. Especially janky ones.
Make your-own-fun games are shit indeed. It's like the developers emptied a bucket of assets and couldn't coherently fuse them together as a gaming experience.
Instead they just pile everything in a package and release it.
A: "Hey we got all these cool textures and models, but know fuck all what to do with it"
B: "How about we add shitty controls, a shallow tutorial and call it a Sandbox game?

I think for console gamers, it was the games you couldnt get on PC officially, like Nintendo and PS games. Even back on the 360 Era, you needed all 3 consoles plus a PC to play all the best games.
PC didnt have Gears 1-3, Halo 3, Lost oddessy, RDR, Uncharted 1-3, Demons Souls, MGS4, GOW3, Mario Galaxy 1-2 etc etc. Thats alot of top games.
And consoles missed out 60fps on 3rd party games and on plenty of PC exclusives like Total War and so on.
PC has the bigger library but Nintendo and PS studios are some of my favourites so for me thats whats most important. Its cheap to buy, simple and easy.
As for things like Chat and activity feeds, I mean the chat is good enough for on PS but I mostly play SP games. Same as family sharing, none of these matter for me. I guess it just depends on the person.
I use my PC for games like Total War and older PC games+ mods and retro games. I cant afford a top PC atm. But will probably get a Steamdeck 2 and plug it in lol.
It depends what you want. Simple, cheaper to buy right off, do you like Nintendo games? Most of the time, the game works out the box. Then the answer is gonna be Nintendo.
Want the choice to play games at the best specs, largest library of games, free online and all the online features you want. Money isnt an issue, then PC is the choice
