PlayStation 5 is a massive sucess in Brazil

To achieve this result, the e-commerce company focused its efforts on the customer, understanding what its consumers wanted. The initiative improved stock preparation and highlighted the most sought-after categories. The highlight of the year was the PlayStation 5. The item was one of the most requested among ninjas. E-commerce sold the equivalent of the height of ten Eiffel Towers during the four days of Black Friday and in advance of Cyber Monday (last Sunday). In addition, the other top-selling products were: SSD, power supply, VGA, monitor, case, video game, watercooler, processor, robot vacuum cleaner and chair.

What's this in context? I know the Brazilian market is relatively small. Do we have LTDs of successful consoles?

Just goes to show how much growth potential there is out there. Plenty of people want to buy in..if they can reach people and offer a way for them to buy it for those on lower incomes, they will get into the ecosystem. It's highly desirable.

The key is to increase the desirability and things like ports and not having big showcases with great games is gonna hurt that.... so they need to improve on that front.

Hopefully Sony can find ways to further cost reduce PS5 price in the coming year. It would be fantastic to see them further undercut Xbox is smaller markets where growth potential is ripe.

Series S being more expensive than PS5 is so crazy lol.

Good on those Ninjas for getting a PS5.

original word is "consumidores" (consumers) - no idea where 'ninjas' comes from
Let’s clear things…

The ninja word… Kabum did a special PC deal where two R$15k machines (~$3k) were being sold at R$20 (less than $1).

There are several clues in social networks like Twitter, Facebook, etc and their Site/App that lead to all of them to make up a code that allow to buy the PC at R$20… the first two person to resolve the full code won.

So Ninja in Brasil is a work used when you did something so skilled in a very fast way… these that could find the solution of the clues where called ninja by the site article.

In a literal translation…

“To participate, these Ninjas had to find clues in the site, app and social networks of the brand.”

In the past Kabum (that is an Onomatopoeia to the sound of an explosion) did several deals like that where people started to call that you have to be a ninja to be first to resolve the clues.

That made Kabum use it as a marketing creating even a loyalty program called Ninja Prime Customer that you receive special deals where you had to be fast as a ninja to get them.

They normally had Ninja Offers with very small duration.

BTW the Kabum is owned by Magazine Luiza one of the biggest retailers here with big stores (over 500m2) in almost all cities in state of São Paulo at least.

Whatever @Welfare believes they don’t have space to stock that amount of PS5 is bullshit.

They can easily stock 30k PS5…and that easy happens in Black Friday or Christmas period.

The retailer probably sold 30k PS5 at Black Friday and the marketing team made the news with what famous monument they can fit these into.

Not the stupid ideia that they inflated to fit the tower lol
