Why are you going to buy it on PC for example if you can spend $1 and get a 3 months trial to beat the game? At that point if you give devs any money it should count as charity.they've really devalued the Yakuza IP by dumping the entire franchise onto gamepass though. I'm still seeing Yakuza 7 firesales all over amazon.com, too. the game, especially for xbox hit the bargain bin within weeks of release. I've seen it hovering at $19.99 for the disc forever now, and it doesn't ever sell out.
of course that one's not on gamepass, but when you have the first six given to you for free you kinda just expect the next one to be free too, or you consider the franchise freeware to begin with, and will never pay for future iterations.
it's also affected the value and prices of the physical copies of the games for PlayStation.
either way, its all I ever see Gamepass zealots playing. The Yakuza games are pretty much the only decent single player games on the service.
and now they're set to do it again with Persona... sigh.
There is no way you can feel good about your purchase if you buy a game for $50~$70 just to see it on cheap subscription service a few months later. Old games that have already been deeply discounted is another matter.
Another thing that happens, at least to me, is that I'll never pay more than the lowest price I've seen a game going for, so when they enter on a subscription service I'll never pay more than $5 or $10 at most for them. DMC5 was on Gamepass but I didn't play it, so now I'm waiting till it cost almost nothing to get on disc.
