Concord budget could have exceeded 400 million, according to Lords of Gaming Research

That's true. I'm only saying that the people claiming it cost 400 mil for concord are including the cost of buying the studio, they're rightly or wrongly inflating the cost of concord.

I wanted to add a bit of reasoning to why they came to that conclusion

But if the game ends up killing the entire studio (which seems reasonably possible at this point.. rumors even of it aside) with no other IPs or significant value to speak of.. It kind of feels like it should be counted against the game.

That's not true. Colin Moriarty explicitly stated his 400 million dollar number did not include the cost of the studio.

He can be such an idiot. These cats on Lords of Gaming are certified ignorants but Colin should know better.

The team isn’t nearly big enough, the marketing push was tame, no license, and they think this thing cost 400 million?

It’s so absurd.

It's WWE.

The media isn't real. The media is salatious. The people who believe it are just the "It's real to me damn it" meme.

I dont see Sony killing this studio without giving them another shot at something, though stranger things have happened. I do expect some major restructuring and muted fiirings next year, but I also think they can see the talent at this studio and that's what they bought. If all goes belly up, make them a support studio with Jason Blundell's team or Bungie. Any shooter studio would be lucky to have the talent at FireWalk supporting them.

The state in which Concord was launched should be lauded and be the industry standard going forward. Probably the most polished First Party IP game on launch since ironically The Order 1886.

They killed RAD for less and shouldn't have. RAD deserved another chance because at least their game was good.
Driveclub Devs got the boot as well

Well they technically did not kill RAD lol. But I agree RAD desverved another chance but that was more of Shu's shitty leadership back then than Sony hating RAD.

As for Drive club devs. It seems you guys keep forgetting Drive Club was their final chance. Motorstorm Apocalypse was pretty much killed upon arrival because of the 2011 Japan Tsunami... The game wasn't even allowed to release in that region, I think. So that game was their true failure and then Drive Club one year delay and then launch disaster ... I feel like Sony was more pissed at them fucking up their first major PS+ first party launch than anything else 😂.

But Evolution Studios like RAD and FireWalk were also technical wizards. Better than Polyphony in many areas

They didn't kill rad they let them go their separate ways and it was a damned shame because they were technical wizards. The Order ran on a 1.4tf machine with a mid-range laptop CPU and looked that good.
Show me a series X game that looks half as good The Order.

Their studio suffered from bad management. They could have been saved.

I agree, they were wizards and Sony lost a lot of talent. Those studios were more than a pint in a pint pot.

As I said it was more Shu's shitty leadership. The Order 1886 was Sony's first time e facing the wrath of online smear campaign against their game. It did immense damage and Shu did abandon them. He also abandoned Hello Games who thankfully pulled it together and now they no longer need anyone.

Shu is a great gamer but he was absolutely terrible as a leader a decade of bad decisions and a graveyard of talented studios left behind him.

Sony was not without fault for the failure of Evolution Studios. Immense pressure was on that studio from 2013 to deliver. As it was meant to be their big GaaS that generation being given away on PS+ with a 10 year plan. Whomever was the idiot who didn't think a public PS+ beta want necessary was the one who sank this game and the studio.
