Notice how the Switch sales are compared to the PS5 when it was released during the PS4 era.

Now we have the Switch 2 being pitted against the PS6 when it is releasing during the PS5 era.

Don't even know what Nintendo has to do with Death Stranding launching on Xbox (5 years after the Playstation release) but ok.

Another Game that won't sell much on Xbox.

But if Kojima can use the Funding from Phil for releasing there, to make more games, why not...

Because that model doesn't benefit from views. TV shows and movies make money based on the highest bidder.

Game as the platform need as many players spending money in their echo system as possible.

Very big and obvious difference.

You don't even understand how the streaming model works but you think you can lecture everybody on the gaming industry?

Disney pays outright for shows like Star Wars Rebels, Agatha, Ahsoka, etc. There are no bidders involved. So guess what Disney+ ends up needing? Money, from subscriptions. How do they get that money? By leveraging content exclusive to Disney+.

That's why those shows I just mentioned aren't on other subscription services. At best, they'll go on Hulu, which is also owned by Disney.

So you don't even know how streaming service platform owners finance their works? That is hilarious 😂

You literally thought it was a good use of time to explain to everyone that Disney makes movies? Really? lol

Regardless, the branch to subscription service is irrelevant considering how poorly Game Pass has been doing. It's GAAP, not SAAP. As these giant games grow in scope and complexity, more and more people will fall into their one game. GamePass (the Netflix of gaming, lol) isn't the mediums future.

Tells me everything about you.

On your planet those consoles weren’t failures.

In the real world the successes were the Wii and Switch which targeted the casual market.

Which makes your claim even more nonsensical.

I lol’d when I read N64 being competitive with the PSone “in the west.” N64 sold like 34 million, and GameCube 22 million and was their last competitive home console that actually had some kind of third party support and parity with rival machines. Hell that gen was the only time the industry was a legit 3-way race.

And first of all. They had Pokémon and game boy to cushion the huge failures of their home consoles. So… that’s more revisionist bs. Pokémon saved their ass.

Nintendo being tight with profits and revenues is ancient damage control I didn’t expect to see again. Cockroaches are also resilient survivors too after all.

The switch 2 is not Nintendo’s next gen home console. It’s their next gen Gameboy

What "many consoles" failed? N64? The system that was competitive with PS1 in the West and still beat the Saturn > 3:1 despite releasing almost two full years later? Gamecube, the system that still had huge 1P hits like Smash Bros. Melee and MK: Double Dash? The Wii U, which still has the highest attach rate relative install base for any system ever on average? Those "failures"?

The truth of the matter is, outside of a brief period with 3DS in its first year, Nintendo never lost money on any system. Not. Once. They've been profitable with every device or in cases like Virtual Boy & 64DD, contained/quarantined the failure before it became anything more than a footnote on their bottom line. They wouldn't forgo foresight and release something like Concord into the gaming space, letting it play out the way modern SIE does.

And that speaks volumes to differences in their leadership these days, IMHO.

I don't have to. The typical buying patterns of casuals & mainstream, & the typical spending habits of hardcore & core gamers (who make up the early adopters), say enough for me. We have generations of consoles to prove it.

And? I'm not speaking for them. I'm speaking for myself and those who feel similar about the precedent this now invites, the optics it creates for the brand, and the implications it'll likely have for the brand going forward.

Cool, let them have their fun. But for me, gaming is SIGNIFICANTLY more involved than just those IP. Like, those IP barely register with me compared to the games I genuinely love.

But I'd bet you it's those like myself, & other hardcore & core enthusiasts, who love those other IP, who are the reasons the industry ever got big enough to support the FIFAs, CODs, Fortnites & GTAs in the first place. The people who only play those massive mainstream IP, are not the backbone of gaming.

On what planet was the N64 competitive with the PS1?

It sold less than 1/3 of what the PS1 did.

Because that is what the general population prefers!
Smartphones, Chromebooks, plug-and-play devices etc.

Mobility and Accessibility are the king!

I almost wonder what my PC is even good for, at this point, outside of some professional things!
Like anything you propably want or need is available on some form of Mobile Device, or at least a Console anyway!

Most applications you use 99% of the time are running either in a Browser or as an Mobile App!
And again, for the games, you can still have a PlayStation or Switch, to complement!
