Oh, if you mean in terms of future releases, then sure I can see what you're saying from that front. I still think there's a chance something like Starfield and TES VI do get PS ports maybe a few years after they're on Xbox, but it really depends on where the Xbox division is in a few years once these Zenimax and ABK acquisitions have settled in.
If they aren't seeing the returns they should, they'll have PS versions in the end (I do believe there's a PS5 build for Starfield in existence, although it's probably at least 2 years behind at this point, maybe a bit older than that). If they are, though, then yeah there won't be PS versions. I'm actually of the opinion everything MS's doing is more for netting future long-term Azure clients in the game development and publishing space more than anything else. If they get enough big clientele for Azure services in the gaming space (and can integrate tech that belongs to Zenimax and ABK into their own game dev packages and cloud server-side stuff), then they won't care if Starfield or TES VI sales are low, and they won't care to bring those games to PlayStation.
I'm just saying for the immediate time being, virtually all Bethesda and ABK games released up to this point are still available for PlayStation, and will probably remain that way for the short term. PS even has a couple of current-gen exclusives from Bethesda that aren't on Xbox despite MS owning them
. But I understand those will likely be the last games from them where this is the case.
Yep, agreed and same. What Sony, MS, & Nintendo do to secure content for their ecosystem and add value for the people in their ecosystem is not much an issue for me. Further industry consolidation might be, but even there at the end of the day, companies are gonna sell and others are gonna buy them. When a deal's been made and it's known, I just generally have to accept it and try seeing how it benefits gamers at the end of the day, tho I can still have my general opinion on how I feel about certain companies making large purchases vs. others.
But yeah WRT to these kind of deals, as you said it's smart business.
