Discord for Xbox will be available today for Xbox Insiders and will roll out to everybody else at a later point New Xbox Insiders release notes should be going up soon.

It amazes me that the full app hasn't been on these consoles, there shouldn't be any reason it's not. Really bizarre decision making.
Not surprised sony still haven't done anything significant with their discord partnership, they develop software at a snails pace.
But I'm also not surprised Xbox getting this earlier. Phil is a petty man, he would want to beat sony to the punch after sony took a dump on them with announcing a partnership with discord right after their failed acquisition.

Discord works fine in the Edge browser anyways.
The trick is getting things like audio actually working in the background while games are playing, while taking up the same or less memory than existing systems. These consoles have one shot at picking an amount of RAM to "reserve" for games and then have to get everything to fit into that.
MS has had a partnership w/ Discord since 2018 and was in talks to buy them lol.. funny you think MS is "petty" in that scenario for Sony to come in and get a minority private stake lol
Nice. They should implement Discord in all platforms to achieve multiplatform voice chats independently of the game you are playing. Sony did a good investment on Discord, so I assume it will be released on PS soon.
Sony's OS team recently has been busy releasing stuff like the new PS+, VRR, PlayStation Tournaments PS5 and so on. I assume Discord chat integration in PS will be added later this year.
They said to be working on a deeper integration beyond what they did of linking accounts and show the game you're playing.

Nice. There’s an unofficial app I use sometimes on my SX but it’s not reliable, I usually just BT my headset to my phone and use it. Will check it out when it hits the Insider app.
What are you talking about? Microsoft has been partnered with them for literal years before Sony even entered the room...

Right they made it sound like Discord would completely takeover PS5’s social functions.
With their bigger focus on pc and cross platform multiplayer coming; this would unify everything since discord is what pc players generally use.
I still found it a bit nutty the scope of a third party app taking over huge part of a console’s os features.
