Stop, FF16 is definitely much more deserving than SMBWonder
It's definitely a great game, but there are other great games that deliver a lot more than just some fun mindless platforming.

Final Fantasy 16 didn’t have mindless, easy combat and gameplay? It sure did. No dungeons. Worst sidequests ever, etc… pretty fucking terrible honestly. But oh no… a mario game doesn’t have a story …
Calling Mario iterative when it’s done more experiments with each game vs the sixteenth final fantasy game? A poor DmC clone ain’t that rare either.

It’s not top quality…it’s great tho, an actual top quality 2d platformer that released this year is "Convergence: A League of Legends Story". Those 3 games are more deserving than SMB Wonder to me

I don’t know what you are fighting… it is definitely one of the very best games released this year.
I still have to play it, but looking at their previous games and Metacritic I assume it deserves to be a GOTY candidate. The problem is that it's a very busy year with many GOTY candidate level games.
If you ask about the Doritos Awards, considering that the gaming press are the ones who vote, in most gaming media almost every year they put a Nintendo game as GOTY candidate when in many cases isn't deserved, so I assume this year they may include 2: Zelda and Mario.
