Dragon Quest 3 remake sales split shows concerning signs for PS if they don’t do anything about it in Japan

Sales split is not as bad as I thought it would be. I do think Sony should focus on regaining market share in japan. Beating Nintendo there would be difficult rn not that they shouldn't try. More importantly, they should try and lock Steam from gaining any traction in Japan and this could mean releasing a portable and better prices for hardware across the board. Steam is not your friend @Sony!!

Not even sure that would be enough but it would help, unfortunately:
1) Sony will not buy Square Enix
2) Even if they did Square doesn't own Dragon Quest entirely, it's co-owned with Yuji Horii and he might have something against abandoning the best selling console for his series
The Square Enix Group includes a global network of leading development studios located in North America, Europe and Japan. The Group boasts a valuable portfolio of intellectual property including: FINAL FANTASY®, DRAGON QUEST® and the legendary SPACE INVADERS®.

I think Yuji has ownership rights. Not the digital rights?
I doubt they can release a Dragon Quest game without him and Vice Versa. Square actually internally made the last few DQ’s unlike before

It's actually not concerning... Switch has a 6 times larger user base, meanwhile DQ3 only outsold PS5 4:1 on physical, and PS5 has higher digital splits so I bet the final split will be around 3:1

It's the third biggest PS5 launch in the region.

As for the sales split. The Switch is at 34 million, the PS5 is at 6 million and DQ has always leaned more towards Nintendo.

I mean, what did you expect to happen?
