Now Saints Row is coming out and it looks as sterile as possible and not very cool.
They have a lot of money to buy studios, but apparently not a lot of money to invest in these studios.

I thinks this are only the gaming rights, don’t think it includes movie and merchandising. Because I can remember the complete Tolkien estate were called out to cost at least $2B.

This Embracer is becoming like a bloated beer belly guy who is about to fart.
Same. Though now we have to think about acquisitions and consolidation strategically because multiple companies have said they are actively looking into doing more of them, if I had the choice and the power to enforce that choice I'd just shut down all acquisitions & consolidation.
That said, the most interesting in this batch from Embracer is Toaplan, IMO. Love some good shmups, especially vertical ones, and Toaplan have a lot of classics in the genre. There are already Steam pages for some like Zero Wing, so that one is moving fast, and it's good to see some immediate results for us gamers when these acquisitions get announced and pass through.
I'm also assuming the Toaplan one was a private one because they had Steam listings ready to go right after the announcement, and there was no mention of intent to buy beforehand. Might be something to keep in mind with some other acquisition rumors floating around. I'm also hoping Embracer don't sell to anyone; the owner seems like he legitimately has a passion for gaming as a hobby and a lot of what they own now are smaller and more niche IP. They could remain independent and basically become a large Annapurna or Devolver Digital, in a sense.
I'd hate to see them get snatched up by another platform holder because it's not like the Big 3 don't already either have a lot on their plate as-is with current game projects, or don't have a vault of classic IP they already own which they can tap into. I'm not even sure how many of the IP Embracer own now gaming-wise are going to see new releases or entries, you can cut that down even further if a Sony or Microsoft were to snag them up (Nintendo as well but I strongly doubt they are interested in buying Embracer).
This probably even rings true with if another massive 3P publisher were to pick them up so, yeah, at the very least I hope Embracer remain independent.
