This is why I believe Sony will not give up on single player. Because no one would give a fuck about Factions if we didn’t already play TLOU2 and understand how good the gameplay and production levels are. Making multiplayer comes with a baked in install base right off the bat.
I'm not seeing the connection, if I understood you correctly. I think there'd be lots of people who played Factions across PS3, PS4, PS5 for 9 years who want the follow-up game, irrespective of anything to do with TLOU2?

More movement and combat mechanics from TLOU2 should be cool, as well as whatever online br/mmo type of thing they wanna blow it up to. But I still really hope that whatever those are, they aren't at the expense of that classic 4v4 setup, or those original 3 vs modes. And I do hope that whatever they do with it, we eventually get 4v4vInfected.

I mean, factions is still based off a single player game though. The original is based on TLOU 1’s gameplay.

I think it will be far harder to build a multiplayer game completely from scratch like we’re seeing with so many other games like Arcadeegeddon, Roller champions, or segas new Hyenas game.

I also think something like Twisted Metal will be a harder sell since there hasn’t been any new games release for it for over a decade. its probably the only reason they greenlit the tv show

Naughty Dog wouldn’t be able to do this game without having done Factions in the past to learn how to network a proper online action game to begin with.

Taking rookie start up studios or devs that don’t come from an experienced pedigree of online ACTION games to begin with to make a gaas is a death sentence (BioWare, Avengers, Babylon’s Fall). Bungie had made 5 Halo games at that point at headlined online console gaming with the launch of Halo 2.

The only real outlier is Fallout 76. Somehow it’s survived.

I’m optimistic and I’m not really a fan of their games at all. But knowing this is going to be an absolutely massive release has my attention.

It will be an online game. Im just saying it might be than PVP and have that Naughty Dog magic.

I can’t remember where the original came from, an interview, leak, tweet or a comment from Naughty Dog?:

NAUGHTY DOG
TLOU Online Game

Planned as a Battle Royale but got completely rebooted. Described as a mix of Tarkov and Division with additional modes inspired by the original Factions MP. Single-player-like experience in online game. F2P, first on PS5 with further release on PC.
That’s just a made up ”leak“ not reliable info.

Naughty Dog have said it’s a multiplayer game with a story. I do believe they described it as “cinematic” in a job listing.

I mean, Division has little cutscenes after certain missions to thread a story between it's story campaign as you go, but all of it can be played in a squad of team mates, the story missions not just the PvP Darkzone area I mean. Have they nailed-down what they meant?

I mean yeah they are the top dogs in graphics.

But people focus on that too much... a multiplayer game needs high FPS and fun gameplay, graphics are even less important than SP games.

We know basically nothing official about the game besides what Neil Druckmann said at Summer Game Fest last month.

people want it because the actual gameplay mechanics of TLOU2 are really good. I don't think theres a better grounded 3rd person shooter

I mean I want it too.

But the only really "sure thing" is it will have the best graphics compared to those other games. Gameplay is a whole nother matter because the game mods are so unknown.

I'm gonna have to try the game eventually. I thought TLOU 1 was not great from a gameplay perspective, and I think that about the Uncharted games as well. But I've seen this opinion so many times about TLOU 2 that I'll need to try at some point.

TLOU1 and 2 are like a night and day difference with gameplay, thats also why a lot of people are hoping they redesigned those elements for the remake. The shooting, stealth, enemy AI, and just overall movement feels really good.

It’s almost criminal that they didn’t include multiplayer wiht it but im excited for something more fleshed out that improves on it even more

I gotta say the combat and strategy in the TLOU2 was pretty amazing. But I enjoyed U4 too and alot of people didn’t

Could it be that the world will have events that will shape the world map in seasons or expansions like in WoW? In that sense, they can use base building fortifying or settlements etc. that each faction has in PvPvE where the clickers are also in the mix which react and change based on the number of players and their actions?
