Unfortunately that means we do not have real numbers. That shit is fake. So fake that it should 100% be disregarded and never cited.

I do believe “most” FF fans are indeed on PlayStation. But I also believe that means the appeal of Ff outside of the MMO has shrank considerably since FF15. With that said however… I believe 16 has served goodwill to both fans new and old better than 15’s cringe.
I don't understand what's so unlikely about that. FF7R sold on PS4 in one year 5m copies. It was confirmed by Square Enix.

Do you really think that just the 3m people bought FF16 and then the sales stopped at once?
This makes no damn sense. Think logically for a moment. Of course, it's possible to have surpassed 5m copies on PS5 only.

Yeah, sells 3 million on PS5 in a month
More like 3 million in the first 1-2 weeks. It is likely about to surpass 5 million if not surpassed that & the game barley been on sales so overall long term it will crack around 7-10 million.

That brings FF remake total sells over 15-20 million & w part 3 likely 25-30 million amazing numbers for Final Fantasy.

RE4 has sold 7 million in 2 years on all platforms & that’s deem a massive success. Dragon dogma sold 3 million on all platform & was deem a huge success.

The fact Square Enix say there not pleased by the numbers so much for almost all releases harms & damage the excitement & support of consumers & fans to buy games. Maybe if they said FF16 was a huge success it would’ve brought light to the final fantasy franchise & being eyes for FF7 rebirth & kept the snowball rolling.

Im not sure how on DQ and extra 2 mil i. Revenue ultimately changes the performance of that game or 10-15 mil on FF16. It was dragged through the mud for ps exclusivity which netted $200 mil in revenue in a week with marketing cost paid by PS.

I really dont see what PS sees in it now. Lego horizo has less than 1,000 concurrent so what does 10k copies do for them at 70% rip?
PS probably could’ve gotten more than half the sales across PC & Nintendo at 100% while pushing hype towards the PS console & more reason for PS4 users to convert by having more exclusive games. Oh & also not charge $60 should’ve been more aggressive w a $50 price.

JRPG don't sell on PC.
I am the PC JRPG fan's strongest warrior. Were it only that PC folk had half as much interest in this genre as I

Studios and games can make money whether being exclusive or multiplatform, has done for decades.

This talk that games are doomed if they are Playstation or Nintendo exclusive is nonsense, and was made up since Xbox started porting games on PC and then Multiplatform.

Now see someone suggest Total War should have a console port and the replies will be it wont help the franchise if it goes multiplatform…
And it doesn’t help that PS is also porting games & releasing games multiplat day 1. Further add fuel by making short sighted & dumbass decision

YOOOOOOOOO The West is finally catching on to the Dragon Quest series
Good for DQIII. Hope its success encourages Square to localize Dragon Quest X Offline
36k steam sales isn't it. DQXI sold over 2m in the west, mainly on consoles, obviously.

That's 36k concurrent users, not sales. The sales count would be much higher due to not everyone playing at the exact same timr.
And this game is doing better than DQXI did on the platform! Furthermore, it having the highest concurrent player count of any (singleplayer) square game on PC means the game is really successful considering others have done way worse yet Square seemed satisfied with that (considering they keep porting games). It also means that, if it's got the highest concurrent player count on PC, imagine how much higher its sales and player count probably are on PS5! This is merely indicative of a greater trend of interest in Dragon Quest in the West, and I'm sure Playstation sales will further show that

At 41%, most of the total Elden Ring sales were for the PS4 and PS5.

I sure don't count PS4 and PS5 as the same console and I doubt folks that own both double dipped

That means between 3 different 'consoles SKUs' they amount to 70 percent.
On the other hand 1/3 of total sales came from 1 platform. PC.
If we are going by Platform, which we are. PC is still the most.
Unless you wanna argue PS4/PS5/Xbox are all the same, which you obviously wouldn't claim.
Lol, another one with numbered days in this forum

Did you really just cite the 4 year old report on remake selling 5 million? Especially when it’s been confirmed both 16 and Part 2 are trending lower too? Like what?

It’s not out of the question… but there’s no information saying this. It’s made up. 16’s sales fell off a cliff after its launch month.

Hate to break this to square fans… final fantasy isn’t as popular as it was a decade ago.

The hilarity of thinking a simultaneous multiplatform release doesn't affect development in some way.

Its only a concern when its a game going from PC to console it seems.

Been told to buy a PC if I want to play the latest Half Life 2 lol… but there is no biasism right? ( funny I need to check I still have my launch day Half Life 2 account I was forced to install to play the game lol)

Multiplatform for final fantasy will only split the fanbase that mostly exists on ps now. That alone will not grow it much. The players that want final fantasy know where to get it.

I’m of the impression that post mortem reception on 15 and Ff7r kinda made the series more niche. But there are indications that 16 has grown the IP’s recognition with newer generations of gamers and with FF14 being Square’s bottom line and premiere game for years now.

I didn’t like 16 much but at least it was good enough to where I wanted to finish it.

Square’s management actually seems to have recognized this and I also don’t think anything has come to fruition with their future strategy. Ports are just short term attempts to get some cash flowing; cuz they need it.

They cut eidos loose. Shuttered failed studios. Failed with every online game attempt not the FF mmo (and they tried many from Babylons Fall to Foamstars)… square like kinda fucking sucks. Kingdom Hearts was supposed to be like megaton—- lols didn’t do shit.

Like Sony shouldn’t partner with them anymore. They’ve proven to not be a good bet since the PS2. They’re a multiplatform pub. Pls go ahead.

I could see Square winding down to one or two new and original releases a year. And they would only be major tentpole releases. A narrowed focus may serve them well.

What they should do is 2 fold.

Learn to name games correctly. In order to understand their games we need use wikipedia, can't even Google it anymore. Atrocious.
Is there a prequel to ff7 remake?
Is ff7 remake part 2 already out?

Second point, they need go back to their roots which is creating games with deep lore. People love deep lore games, ff7, ff8, elden ring, vagrant story.

Create complicated gameplay mechanics.

For each franchise give them one composer so the music of each franchise is distinct.

FF16 is outclassed on those to fronts even by ff1.

Instead of creating a game that approachable, Create a game for your core audience and let them market the game for you.

PS4/PS5 totals can be compared to PC’s share. False assumption to make that pc players are even running it at ps4 spec let alone at pcmr levels.

They overshipped at launch.
When they really sold these 3 million shipment? Nobody knows.
How much more these 3 million they sold? Nobody knows.

But think a bit… previous FF had 5 million milestones but FRXVI not even after a year and 4 months.

What are the possible reasons?

1) They didn’t ship 5 million yet.
2) They want hide these numbers from investors for whatever reason.

Which one you believe has more chance to be true? I mean read from investors like 5 million is bad and when what they more need to show good numbers to them? It does t make sense.

“Shipping” games. The more years that pass the less relevant shipped boxed copies even mean.

why would the fanbase being split between platforms be a problem
Hypothetically if 25% of players are on PlayStation, 25% on Nintendo, etc, that would be the same number of people as if they were all on one platforms.

Also there are more FF games natively available on PC than on PlayStation 4/5, at this point.

failed with every online game attempt not the FF mmo
Dragon Quest X is still going
