Square has been terrible for ages. FF14 was the only thing keeping them relevant. Both Ff7r and Kingdom Hearts were underwhelming both critically and commercially for the decades of hype they had. Hell, I preferred their Eidos stuff over anything else… well then Avengers happened.

It’s all riding on FF16. Their restructuring and forthcoming further guts to the company are necessary. They should only hold onto the Ff14/16 and Dragon Quest teams. Everything else is a dumpster fire.

FF16 is a different situation. I wouldn’t compare Forspoken to it. Forspoken is throwaway low effort game development. FF16 is the most important mainline FF release since the OG FF7.
