Has resume activity for a game been removed on PlayStation 5 recently?

Yes it has, no wonder I couldn’t find it…very frustrating experience, or lack there off…

Answer:
The “Resume Activity” feature on the PlayStation 5, which allowed players to jump directly into a game at a specific point via Activity Cards, has been removed following a firmware update (24.06-10.00.00) released in mid-September 2024. Sony has not provided an official explanation for this decision, but it appears intentional, as subsequent updates did not restore the feature. The Activity Cards now display options like “Play Game,” which only lead to a standard launch from the main menu  .

This removal has frustrated many players who valued the convenience it provided, particularly in bypassing splash screens and navigating directly to gameplay. Speculation suggests that low usage or development resource allocation might have influenced Sony’s decision, though no confirmation has been given  .
 
Yup. Useless and a waste of space because it wasn't an integrated feature, it depended on the developers.
 
People have been talking about this for weeks. Yes it seems to have been removed since nobody hardly used it and a lot of developers didn’t use it properly.

Fuck, what’s the point of a console if you don’t have set standards. Another head scratcher.

Sony never mandates developers to use any features. That’s both good and bad in that developers aren’t forced to do anything, but bad for us since features on the console are not utilized properly or at all.

I myself have never used the resume activity but can see how useful it was for those that did use it. Sony should bring it back and make it standard thing that has to implemented. With proper background art that updates as you progress the game. Some games did this incorrectly and didn’t update you on anything.

New console features are suppose to be added to the PS5 over the years. Not be removed.
 
I always used it in the games which supported it. At the very least they could have kept the possibility to jump right to the latest savegame.

I was accustomed to using it. Was a good feature, skipped all logos straight to last save. Taking it it out threw me….and frankly the move sucks hard.

I gave up on it after the first few weeks. It barely worked for me. Wouldnt always go where I left off.
I forgot it existed and felt it was a dud.
It really worked?

Id much rather PS6 give an optional quick resume like how Series X does. For people who want it, take some HDD space. Im down for it.
When it works, its one of my favourite features in consoles in generations. Would make just jumping into a quick game of something much easier

And yes, I have a weird brain that get turned off from playing a quick game because I cant be bothered to wait long lol
 
they were amazing just about every game i played used it and when u save ur game it would make a save card for u so when u get back on u just hit that save card and it loaded u in like 5 sec it skipped any and all logo boots and put u right into the game in secs......

Also what is up with that PS5 feature that was promised to us to save storage by deleting unusable datas? Like extra languages or story mode on fighting games after you complete it? Guess dickheads at Sony are way too busy on other non related PS5 stuff than their consumers as usual ...

Os/Ui and features seen to be real slow with Sony.

They are too limited to keep making a new UI every console. It takes years to catch up with previous console features. Just carry on with the PS5 to PS6.


Its very typical half assed Japanese old man business style.
They probably have 4 people in a basement making the os/ui and classic games/backward compatibility games

I prefer PS5/PS3 look and speed of it to PS4. I just hate not having proper folders in a PS5 when PS3 even had them.

Also I liked having folders for music, images, videos for PS3 and even the web browser was better
