Housemarque's next AAA game will be built on Unreal Engine 5 - via @Zuby_Tech

Their previous game did use Unreal Engine and in they job offers publicly posted on their website they ask for expertise on Unreal Engine.

So obviously yes, their next game will use Unreal Engine. No need to be an insider to see it.

UE5 is rapidly becoming more standardized in the industry. Almost everyone is using it now, especially AAA studios, because they don't have to do any of their own maintenance on their own engine. Therefore these companies are saving the cost of developer maintenance. The amount of people also learning UE5 has rapidly accelerated, especially after the Unity Runtime fee controversy last year. And having a large pool of potential candidates for hire who know UE is something companies would not want to miss out on. Teaching new people an inhouse engine they have to get familiar with in a rapid dev cycle is not productively reliable, nor is it a good use of employee resources. Also the fact that UE has built-in features that pretty much give no hassle in terms of development and shipping games, it's really easy to get into and start making games.

“Will” sounds like they have been twiddling their thumbs for three years. I hope they are at least 50% done with their next game.

Yeah, it's a funny way to phrase it... especially when so many of us are here thirsty for new games from first party.

I was looking through the current sales on PSN and I can hardly find anything I really want to play now.

It was same situation with UE3 during PS360 era. It's more of a transition period for most developers.

I remember reading they are working on there biggest project ever?

I love their games so looking forward to it.
But I hope eventually or now they have a smaller team too working on the smaller games they use to make, like Resogun and SuperStarDust ec

After seeing Concord utilized Unreal Engine 5 and how fantastic that game ran and looked... I won't slander that engine. In the right and capable hands it's clearly a beast.

They are done with Arcade shooter games for good and I can't blame them.

Shame, they done it so well. Even if they managed a small team to teach them there ways.

In my opinion Playstation could do with some small titles like Resogun to fill up the time between the bigger games. I always enjoyed them

I didnt know it was unreal engine. Yes felt smooth, fast, stable and plenty shooting mechanics all done well

They said they are done with that genre as they don't see it as economically feasible. As the sales are weak
