It was always funny to see the "blue rats" doing mental gymnastic to discredit Game Pass.

The reality was....They were just jelly.

The idea of a console makers entire strategy being subscription based is not a future we want.

He also says there will be games and I'm still looking for those.

I mean I get it Xbox has had a tough time this year with games being delayed because of war, miss management or something else but come on. They killed it last year, when all of the big Sony games got the bump.

Everyone knows it's the best deal in gaming, so there's not much to talk about.
What big games are you playing that makes it the best deal compared to PS+? Keep in mind that PS+ has many games from Bethesda and Activision too.

The Yakuza games are dirt cheap on PS (like $3) so it can't be that too.

I like a lot of different games, not just the "muh production values" ones (which more often than not bore me to death, sadly), so I always have way more to play than I have time on my hands.

Those small indie games are already cheap to begin with so getting them on a sub is not a good deal. The hype on GP was all about the Day 1 AAA.

If you want no-name indies and simulators you can get better ones on a random charity bundle or on Fanatical.

AAA publishers abandonned GP after Square screwed up with Outriders. Activision also never supported it.

It would be stupid from Microsoft to spend potentially hundreds of millions of dollars on 3rd party games like that. That's why they've been buying the biggest publishers in the industry. The plan is to have the big AAA games all come from 1st party, and then to add some smaller day one 3rd party games like they've been doing for the past two or so years.
In droughts like these, when there are no first-party AAA games releasing, they had to get 3P AAA games which they couldn't.

Besides, even if they do get to their "ideal" release schedule, which is one first-party game per quarter, it is still just 4 first-party games per year. Not enough to make a difference -- even if we assume that all of those 4 first-party games would be AAA.

So either way, they need 3P AAA games too.

The problem is no one wants to play those games.

They're not cheap, especially the day one games. They usually cost more than a month of GPU, which makes GPU a great deal.

What are all of these AAA 3P games MS was supposed to get for 2022? Elden Ring? It’s nice that Sony has a strong 2022, after a weak 2021. MS has a weak 2022, after a strong 2021. It’s almost like all of this is a balance and games take years to make. And did someone just say FOUR AAA games a month from MS wouldn’t be enough 😆

MS always has a plan, then time passes and they need to come up with another plan.

Be honest, you would never buy or play any of them besides the bigger ones like TMNT or Tunic. Majority of subscribers don't even click on them to try. A bunch of fodder, epic store giveaway rejects.

Strong 2021 on PC maybe but not on console. The usual Halo/Forza and a kickstarter game.

I wouldn't call Returnal and Ratchet a weak 2021 for Sony. Returnal won all the major awards.

Flight Sim, Halo, Psychonauts, Forza, Deathloop. Pretty good year. Not even including PC.

Idk what you mean by Returnal winning all the “major awards”. I know Resetera used to have a tracker thread and last I saw in it, Returnal was beaten by three or four of those MS games I listed above and also It Takes Two. Maybe that changed, idk or care.
