If course it has failed, but this will be the best outcome for MS.

Worst outcome would be to let Phil Booty and the gang continue on with their stupid “We must beat PlayStation, we must be PlayStation” and end up with a black hole on their accounts.

Most of the Xbox fanboys won't go away. For the past 7 years, they made fun of PlayStation fanboys for celebrating sales....now this is the narrative they're going to go with if Microsoft decides to go fully multiplatform.

This is what they have to do. They don't want to "lose" to Sony fans.

Yep, I know a few. They are already anticipating the next Xbox console.

I would say less than a third of them will move on to PlayStation and feel relieved about it, but the majority will become obnoxious PC fanboys who will continue to spend their time hating PlayStation.

Xbox will be the consoles, the brand will be called Microsoft Games Studios or something like that. That way the console still exists as it's own "exclusive" product and MGS publishes games for it and others.

Not sure if this is what will be announced next week though

Is it too farfetched to think that the insider leaker who was disgruntled was Phil Spencer himself?

I think he truly does care about the legacy he has built with the current state of XBox and is egotistical enough to start this whole shit storm as a last ditch effort to sway his bosses all the while seeing himslef the martyr in his own head.

The fact he only tweeted the bare minimum then plans to let it simmer for a week knowing it will fester and exacerbate the behavior form the Xbox diehards only reinforceing his message to leadership.

Crazy i know but to me it just makes too much sense.”

I agree 100 percent. I wouldn’t be surprised if Phil himself was the leaker to get the crazies activated in one last ditch effort to save his legacy or whatever.

They have been losing for decades, though.

What legacy?

I mean, the guy is deluded, so he may be the leaker... but to protect his "legacy" that makes no sense.

Companies often "leak" stuff to the press in order to measure potential reaction and prepare the right communications approach, they also "leak" product information to build-up buzz around them and let people feel special that they were able to get a peek at what's coming.

Some of the leaks this week could be deliberate, given how MS is always trying to handle the messaging and they have their shills repeating their PR provided messages all the time... The shilling part seems to be gone, as if MS let go their PR handlers and their're all lost.

So the rumors are probably mostly true, some of the client facing changes are already being implemented, at this rate I wonder if Phil will even be on stage next week, he killed it! and not in a good way.
