Yup. Xbox fans are coddled and Xbox conversations are HEAVILY moderated. Xbox fans are too afraid to admit that they created Xboxera not because of what was happening on era, but because they just wanted a place where they could openly and gleefully console war without repercussions.

But we know how much Spencer and co fears bad press for the brand. It’s why these ambassador programs exist and why execs interact with these people; evangelism. And it works because a lot of these Xbox fans are often radical in the way they defend this brand.

It was brought up again on era recently how pro-PS the forum is and why Xboxera exists as Xbox fans were pushed out of the forum, in a thread about Avowed where people were saying how bad the combat looks. Any perceived attack on anything Xbox is an attack on the individual because that’s how much they’ve based their identity on Xbox.

Man, I do like era ngl, I enjoy the antics of some folks but damn that place irks me more and more every day. It’s why I made an account here

And some of the "ambassador" people you mentioned about, managed to infiltrate era moderation team and taking full control of the narratives there.

You're missing the forest from the trees. Of course firings will happen due to redundancies.

BUT, the ENTIRE messaging spiel for the acquisition ran on talking points such as employees wouldn't be getting fired, among many other things.

Ironically by pointing out the obvious you are only really indirectly supporting the people who were cheerleading the acquisition because, funnily enough, the "redundancies" have become their talking point now to downplay the news.

Like I said, of course that's one of the big reasons for the firings (not the only one tho; Blizzard's unannounced game was cancelled and I bet a lot of those fired were programmers, artists etc. specific to that game), but why bother pointing out the obvious? It just gives the chud cheerleaders for the acquisition padding room to try spinning the narrative to make it look like it's not a bad thing at all (unless Sony fire a few people, then they'll be crying about how bad and evil they are and why Sony buying companies is bad. Exactly what these same types were saying about the Bungie layoffs BTW).

You can go and say that your opinion shouldn't be predicated on those type of people and that's correct; however you also need to understand that given the context of the community due to the inflamed corporate cheerleading & console warring the ABK acquisition brought (a lot of it enabled by MS & ABK themselves), it's probably best not to get bad faith actors useful ammunition on this topic.

You're exactly right, Xbox era was created after the absolute embarrassment of the halo infinite graphics reveal, when they couldn't take their beloved toy from being picked on resetera. Moderation wasn't their problem.
Same as install base was created when nintendobots were ran off of sales threads.

the pro-MS mods took complete control around the Zenimax acquisition and went into overdrive during the ABK acquisition.

The ABK acquisition thread made it clear as day what’s going on there. And it’s always the same excuses by mods, constantly hiding behind the guise of curbing “console wars” when the discussion around MS acquisitions were so lobsided it wasn’t even funny.

Installbase is an interesting one. The Nintendo fans were definitely upset for sure, but the mods also fucked over the one dude who was always making really detailed sales threads, so he left, and other peeps followed too for whatever reasons they had. Mods just drive people away. Again, anecdotally but I frequent era a lot but the moderation makes me use that site less and less

If I remember, that transistor dog also moderated Playstation thread back then and he shut down the Playstation thread for a few hours, because Playstation fans there are discussing about a few "world premiere" eksbotz games like metaphor refantazio which has eksbotz exclusive marketing lol. The word hypocrisy was used in a previous post and I definitely should have used it here, tht should make things easier to compute. Those ppl are all over the place.
