While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.

LMAO no dlc & instead a PC port for a game that will sell less then Spider-Man remaster pc port.

So like what peak 25K for Spider-Man 2 that’s half of the sells then spiderman ps4.

What a disaster, instead of making more singleplayer games it’s nothing but pc port. PS turning more & more like Xbox & as we’ve seen Xbox it’s a dark & sad future for PS.

In the other hand Nintendo is double downing on its hardware, storefront & platform. Nintendo Switch 2 is about to absolutely slaughter PS5 sells I give it 2 years & they cross 50+ million + they will get more 3rd party day 1 like cod, battlefield, resident evil, final fantasy, mainline monster hunter, street fighter, fromsoft games for the first time etc.

Pretty likely they decided it was a better idea to merge all that DLC into a single Morales-like shorter game: the Venom one.

You really are a dumbass. It’s sad when people on Era get it, yet you’re out here spreading this B.S. this is a good thing. That means that they’re most likely moving in to SM3. Or, they most likely moved this team to the rumored Venom project air to the Wolverine team. Idk why you cared for this DLC. Which most likely would have been mid. Also. You really have this obsession with Switch 2 dominating PS5.

Lmao that dude is unhinged if so. Switch 2 is going to be so outdated by the time it releases and XSS/X so dead that technology and developers will have moved on. Switch didn't get 3rd party support after 100m sold and neither will Switch 2.

I am not shocked

I reckon it's been all hands on deck with Wolverine and they probably had to throw out a lot of stuff due to leaks

I just see them having taken any dlc plans for any and all games and made them stand alone releases like miles. Same shit … arguably better strat if they’re just making the same kind of game over and over anyway.

The insomniac money laundering operation in full effect, 2-3x budgets for reusing assets lol. Spiderman with all its dlc cost 80 million, miles an 8 hr game with reused assets cost 150 million, spidermid 2 cost 300 million, wolverine 350 million LMAO

Yet. Those games will still sell 20x more than Steller Blade. 🤣 Also you don;t understand how game budgets work. The reasons for these very high budgets are because of the wages In California.

It's why Insomniac had pretty big layoffs right after Spider-Man 2 came out and so many people were confused.

Let's take a look at Insomniac's costs.

After Spider-Man 1 until Spider-Man 2 they spent 591 million dollars developing 4 games over 5 years.

This means that Insomniac probably has an annual operating cost of about 118.2 million dollars including external costs.

Let's say you're looking to cut 10% of costs (employees salaries plus misc)

that means you're looking to bring the cost from 118.2 million down to 106.38 million. That's still only a savings of 11.82 million per year, but over say 5 years that's about 60 million dollars and that's just one studio.

The other reality is that they layoffs are about stemming further cost increases. If you look at Insomniac... they're still hiring... people are probably still getting small raises... the costs continue to go up, but now you're not paying 10% of the staff or giving them raises. They're also hiring people remote from out of state so they can pay them less too.

The next thing to do is to cut down the cycle length.

Spider-Man 3 will be a cross platform launch title for PS6. And X-Men will follow shortly after, but then the focus for them is to move to original IP.

If you look at Insomniac, they always have multiple teams working on building games, but a game like Rift Apart cost them time and money.

If that was the case...why couldn't they have announced that today? Why leave us in the dark guessing "what if what if?", when they came out with their chest to announce a PC version for SM2?

Occam's Razor says, the simplest answer is usually the correct one. That answer here is: the DLC is cancelled and there's no Miles Morales-esque expansion planned. They could have even just said "There's been an exciting change of plans regarding planned DLC content; we'll have more information to share in the coming months.". That would have sufficed.

But nope. Nada. So AFAIK, the DLC's canned and so is the Venom expansion. But hey, we might get Spiderman 2 Remastered in time for the next film! S Y N E R G Y!!!

Venom is supposed to be their next game set for a Fall 2025 release so if anything, it makes much more sense in every aspect to include the Spider Man 2 DLC into the Venom game itself especially when you read that image of the roadmap as it says "open world mission" and "boss fight" which tells me that it was either A) a single mission with a boss fight at the end of it or B) a short quest line leading to the boss fight. Either way, DLC/expansions usually have a poor attach rate to the base game so Insomniac is better off moving on to Venom, Wolverine and eventually Spider Man 3.
