Is CoD popular on PC like it is on console?

Console is a different story altogether. With its newest season launch Warzone 2/MW22 is probably holding its own against Fortnite for top spot in industry. This will change when Fortnite introduces its leaked first-person mode next season. It will steamroll everything.

I also have never seen battle.net data and if there is any available that would be useful. MMO tracker websites are all 100% fake estimates unless game data is actually provided. So that’s useless here. I would imagine however that the vast majority of players will have switched to steam immediately from blizzard’s launcher with this release.

Steam performance is showing an on-going downward trend with a moderate bump from a new season launch. I still find this quite shocking. Mechanically Apex and CoD are similar so I don’t see why PC players wouldn’t also embrace CoD.

In more extreme scenarios PvP players will indeed move from pc to console if hacking and cheating is rampant. That could explain it…

Multiplayer landscape is definitely changing.

Pretty sure this current COD/Warzone is the most popular COD has ever been on PC. I could see the next iteration even growing it from here now that it will firmly be on Steam going forward. People typically don't fuck with games like that which aren't on Steam. The reality is though, that Battle Royale games completely took over MP gaming, especially on PC, and there's plenty of other options out there. And then you have Counter-Strike which is the quintessential PC FPS... which is actually currently breaking it's all time record with 1.376M concurrent players as we speak.

Yes. Very popular.

To the point to reach peak of 500k concurrent players on Steam

At launch. Two weeks post season 2 launch now on steam and it’s not where it should be.

Keep in mind that this is the coupling of two different games as one. Nowhere am I saying it’s not popular lol — there’s just a huge difference with pc and console here.

Well launch is better than post launch… I mean it where you pay the game development.

But even today it reaches 100-150k players on Steam daily.

That’s not necessarily true for a BR. It should be where Apex and PUBG are not dueling with GTA and Destiny. This is quite different from its console performance. That is unless by some stretch battle.net compensates for all of this… I kinda doubt that however.

I always got the impression that while it's popular on pc, the majority of its userbase is on console. Could be mistaken though.

Which is strange considering when CoD first hit huge it was showcase pc software. CoD2 was an event for sure.

Yeah, from what I've read over the last few years... it seems to be PS first as the biggest playerbase, then Xbox and last is PC.....

I remember seeing something saying less than 20% of the playerbase was on PC.... I don't remember exactly where I saw it though, probably a forum post with infographics.

I still believe over 40% of CoD players are on PC.

I’m doing random guesses and it should really be interesting to have the split but I think it is something like:

PC: 40-45%
PS: 35-40%
XBOX: 15-20%

PC gaming is changing. Instead of their own defining games, the top played list is a collection of console ports.

COD is replacing counterstrike.

There are no defining exclusvie titles that push hardware like crysis or doom 3 from back in the day. The closest thing is pity ports of sony's first party games, that's why PC gamers beg so fervently for them. Sony is the new benchmark for graphics, and those games are coming from PS5.

for what its worth and anecdotal but i used to have about ~20 friends who routinely played COD every year since the 360 era. All of them have stopped playing the traditional TDM mode in favour of warzone, and many moved to PC for a competitive advantage, be it KB/M or hacking software.

About 70% of CoD: Warzone Players are from Consoles
A survey performed by CharlieIntel shows that 42% of CoD Warzone players are from PlayStation and 25% on Xbox which makes about 70% of its player base.

And even that isn't reliable because of sample bias. Is mobile a bit higher? Probably. Probably at the expense of PC which would have a more hardcore playerbase than consoles.

"An independent study by Dexerto estimated that players prefer to play Warzone on the console. The study says 42.1% use PlayStations, 25.6% use Xbox, and 28.4% the PC. Meanwhile, 3.9% only represent the Call of Duty: Mobile numbers."

"While we have the date for Warzone, it’s hard to determine the numbers or the percentage for other games. However, people seem to gravitate towards the console version of Call of Duty titles more."

I’m not sure about that study.
I’m hopping CMA, FTC, etc split the shares.

I will really surprised if PC and PS are not neck a neck… and Xbox is too high in that study.

Nothing against the study but it is based in poll.
