Estimates were unrealistically high, so as hard numbers came out sites like VGChartzzz had to change their numbers.

Are we sure those Xbox numbers are legit? Haven't they been revised down a few times this year already?

If you're going to question the Xbox numbers, might as well question all the numbers TBH. IMO I do think to some degree Xbox has been supply-constrained in Japan; the weeks where we saw them moving like 500 units combined weren't a real reflection of demand.

However, I think the numbers we're seeing here are probably about where actual demand would be if supply weren't an issue. Maybe ~ 10K across the S and X weekly, would be a safe estimate. So, there's still some room they could improve their numbers, but not by much.

Of course, the numbers this week could just be a spike due to Starfield's release, and then we see them crater again afterwards. Saw the same happen with Diablo 4.

Needs bundles... Sony need to care a bit more. They seem distracted and spread too thin with all these silly things like Cloud, the new portable streaming device etc.

PS5 sales really have been so consistent and the Switch continues to surprise. I can't wait for the day we get a digital sales leak fot the Japanese market because... There's still that elephant in the room that needs to be addressed

But overall it seems this year will be the best peak year for Playstation in Japan since the PS3, so that's a major win for them.

Doing things like VR, Cloud, and portables shouldnt distract them. They always have these side projects. Like PSP, Cloud, Eye toy etc.

I think they are just out of touch and lazy, arrogant and not making the effort they should do in Japan. Reminds me a bit of Early PS3 era

Yeah I think I agree. Even though PS 1st party games took it to another level on the PS4 gen, they also lost that Japanese Spark and studios. And the whole PS3/Wii/360 gen alot of Japanese devs struggled with the new direction games were going.
