Next PlayStation Showcase Date Revealed, Journalist Says

Journalist Jeff Grubb has seemingly revealed the time frame for Sony's next PlayStation Showcase event, and it's happening soon.

For PlayStation fans hoping for more news about their favorite console, the next PlayStation Showcase looks to be coming sooner rather than later. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, Sony is set to hold a PlayStation Showcase the week of May 25.

Sony is planning to showcase upcoming PlayStation games in a digital event held within the next few weeks, sources have told VGC.

According to people with knowledge of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s plans, the next big PlayStation Showcase could take place at the end of this month, or in early June, ahead of other big events planned for next month, including Summer Game Fest.

Let's hope it's real and that it's a PlayStation Showcase and not simply a random State of Play.

But as always I'll keep skeptical until Sony announces it. Because they have a story of "leaking" supposed State of Plays and Showcases that "get delayed" or "cancelled".

I think it's pretty obvious that Sony will have a big stream this summer because almost always they had it around the pre-E3 days, and this year specially is more likely because several things lead to think it's a good moment:

• All the first wave of big exclusives and big 3rd parties with marketing deals they did use to promote PS5 in the early days are out, so they need to announce the next ones (or show the already announced)
• The PSVR2 launch window marketing campaign is over, so can focus in another thing
• Finally there are enough consoles in the stores without shortages everywhere, so it's a good moment to push the hype
• All the main regulators will have announced their result regarding the ABK acquisition around these days, so it will be a good moment to push the hype to fight the MS one in case it goes well or to bury MS if -seems will be the case- goes wrong
• Seems Tears of the Kingdom is going to be the last super selling Switch release, so it's a good idea for Sony to pump the PS5 hype close to around its release

Why though? Insomniac, a studio that can't make their own successful IPs anymore so they stick to 3rd party Marvel IPs, making more superhero crap? IPs that will become 3rd party again in the future? Meanwhile you have Microsoft acquiring the biggest publishers in the world like Activision-Blizzard and soon Sega and/or Capcom.

Imagine if one of Sony new IPs is a proper nextgen looking sci-fi game and they drop it two weak before the Starfield showcase.

That's is the type of move I want, show them no mercy.
