Sony wants most people to forget that their first attempt at a GAAS game this gen was Destruction All Stars, a generic destruction derby game that was originally supposed to be $70 with an MP mode only but had to pivot to free to play.
Clearly they learned nothing from this, and instead are hoping that a PC release on Day 1 will be enough to make their GAAS games a success. Not to mention the unique challenges that come with making PvP games that Sony seems to be favoring, which even Bungie is struggling with as the PvP portion of Destiny (Crucible) has low player count.
At least with PvE games like GTA Online, Destiny main game, you could still have a hint of storytelling that is not possible with generic deathmatch/extraction modes.
Insomniac, the shining party of Playstation first party this generation, will eventually be compromised with having to make a likely PC multiplayer game
