Nintendo smartly isn’t diminishing there hardware, storefront or entire ecosystem for a direct competitors like PS instead Nintendo is creating other pillar of potential massive profit/growth using the Nintendo brand & ip such as parks (Mario parks & the new Donkey Kong park), Mario movie/Zelda movie & merchandise/toys these are all ways to expand Nintendo gaming ip to new users which funnels back into the Nintendo console/storefront (ecosystem) which Nintendo fully own & control because they have permanent exclusive. Sony/PS should take note. Also games like GOW don’t need to be 200+ million go back to 50-75 million dollar GOW in the art style of GOW 1-3 ratchet & clank had a budget of 70 million & sold 5+ million only on PS & even that game had unnecessary budget spending like ray tracing & fur follicle which no doubt increases the time & money to make games which ultimately PS gamers just want fun quality exclusive games not overly large big budget 200+ million 5+ years development games.

It depends, whether or not Microsoft will confront Nintendo directly. They are still focused on PlayStation but I think it can change if the new Xbox handhelds release. They will start fueling anti-Nintendo propaganda as well. Time will tell.

You need defacto permanent exclusive to continue to sell 150+ million in the case Nintendo understand this there will be some players that stick w switch 1 but by having permanent exclusive for switch 2 it will bend the knee of switch 1 users to migrate, new users & competitors users who don’t preferred Nintendo but because of Nintendo permanent exclusive they’re forced to or miss out.

Keep in mind that any new Switch 1 game from Nintendo is also a defacto Switch 2 exclusive.
I think there will be a cross-gen period happening here, but it won't really be as long as the PS5/Series one because the difference in capability is quite striking between the Switch 1 and 2.

He meant there that while they'll continue making games that like Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will run in Switch 1, they'll (obviously) make games that won't.
