Back in 2020, before the PS5 even launched, Colbert from NeoGAF set up a Discord server to spread FUD about the Console. The server included some well known members, like Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry, Klobrille, doncabesa (XboxEra founder), and oggmeiler, who was openly racist toward Shuhei Yoshida. When their conversations were leaked, they exposed a coordinated effort to spread misinformation, clear bias against PlayStation, and even attempts to get PlayStation users banned from ResetEra. Once the leaks became public, Colbert panicked, deleted the server, and tried to cover his tracks by creating a new one.
All the FUD back then, claims about the PS5 overheating, rumors that Sony reworked the console at the last minute, and the nonsense about it being only 9 teraflops or even lower, came straight from this Discord server. The fact that even Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry was involved raises serious questions about bias in gaming media.
Props to @Papacheeks for highlighting Soprano’s 2020 ResetEra post, where he recognized the coordinated FUD campaign against the PS5 early on. He knew exactly what was happening and was banned from ResetEra for it.
The XboxEra founder, Doncabesa, has reached a new low by wishing death on someone, all because of a console. It's alarming to see the founder of XboxEra resort to such extreme behavior. This kind of conduct is completely unacceptable, no matter the context.
