The latest game in the Legend of Zelda series has smashed sales records, truly living up to the hype as one of the most anticipated games in years. Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling Nintendo videogame of all time.

It hit the shelves on 12 May and sold 10 million copies in its first three days to snatch the record title previously held by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2018. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for the Nintendo Switch, held the record shortly after its release in December of that year by selling 12.08 million copies in 24 days.

Before that, the fastest-selling game from Nintendo was New Super Mario Bros. for Wii in 2009. That one sold 1.4 million copies in its first week of sales and 10.5 million by the eighth week.

@Gods&Monsters no joke. Guinness Book is terrible at keeping records. They only certify regular people doing stuff if they get paid to (there's a set fee to have one of them come out and document it) and their "big" records like this have very little in the way of verifying. To say nothing of ridiculous categories like this. "Fastest Selling Nintendo Game"? What does that even mean? First week? The actual fastest selling Nintendo game is whatever was available for pre-order the longest before its actual release. DNF is the fastest selling game of all time, having managed to sell itself in -10 years.

And specifically in regards to games, speedrunners think they are a joke because they kowtow to Billy Mitchell and his blatantly fake records.

Any way this is coated - sugar or salt - this game is doing gangbuster numbers and will propel the Switch for a couple months least.

Single-player alive and kicking. Most important of all - kids being conditioned to great, quality single-player experiences on consoles. Nintendo's role in the market continues to be essential for Sony when MS/Google/Amazon all want to, in one way or another shift the industry to the cloud and sink fixed hardware consoles.

Team Red needs to deliver what many want - a proper console as close and up to par to the PS5/Series X specs wise as possible.... at least match the Series S to get your feet wet again (it's currently the lowest common denominator). The crowd will come, absolutely. Folks want their CODs and modern games too to go alongside Mario, and the Nintendo staples.

Maybe the best game experience I’ve ever had. Finished it earlier this week. Nothing less than monumental IMO.

Well deserved.

Thats not happening for cost reasons. You'll be lucky to see it match PS4 Pro.
