Lets leave the business side of things and talk about the people supporting this deal.
Can't believe there are actual real people supporting this but their entire support is based on the assumption that cod titles will be free day one on gamepass, if for some reason activision denies that then the the meltdown would be crazy. These people supporting market consolidation and a trillion dollar company buying anything they like and for what reason just so that they can get those games for cheap, i have one advice for such people- just go and pirate the game. Imagine supporting microsoft to eat up the gaming industry just cause you are too broke to pay money for a game you are going to spend hours playing and having fun.
I have no issues with ActiBlizz games comin to gamepass. I get more for my money that way. Just like I'm all for more games coming to PSPLUS.

"We're able to spend Sony out of business"

Was a possible scenario.

And they actually went through with it.

Do you really believe they are not trying to spend Sony out of Business right now?
Of course he doesn't believe that, it is just one game, big fucking deal 😂

It is just one game (series), and it really isn't a big deal. Modern CoD is trash. None of you people getting mad even play it.

"We are able to spend Sony out of business" is very different from "we will spend Sony out of business."
Eeeh, there shouldn't be an argument about the intent behind that statement, everybody knows what it means. The judge probably considered it but deemed it immaterial to the case. The main thing FTC has(had) to prove is if the acquisition of ABK resulted in MS "spending Sony out of business" and modelling harm to customers after that and not what MS intends to do. It's a steep hill to climb. All MS has to do is point out that the acquisition may harm Sony, but it certainly doesn't put them out of business, a sentiment Jim Ryan seems to share. As a bonus, MS could point out the benefits of the deals like how it strengthens their competitiveness against Apple, Google and Sony all of whom are the dominant forces in the markets they are operating in and benefits to customers like putting ABK games to Game Pass.

From my very layman's POV and as someone who is against M/A on principle, especially of this scale, I think it was a mistake for FTC to make the same arguments Sony was making. On the surface, it seemed like they were protecting Sony's position. On the other hand, it may have been impossible to make a compelling argument against the deal without doing so. Modelling harm to customers is pretty difficult as you would be working with probabilities, with this case if COD is removed from PS there is obvious harm to PS customers but MS is committed to getting COD to Nintendo Switch(something which they didn't financially model, hmm that's suspicious). Have customers overall benefited from this? Hard to say and hard to prove.

it means, you are crazy.

Embarrassing and premature laugh reactions here by @Zzero @Calverz and @KingOfTheDead, the latter two of which are GAF xbots. Deal is still dead and it turns out MS was the desperate one, crawling back to the CMA on its hands and knees. Pleading and grovelling for a second chance.

Did something happen?
The fake news from yesterday was that the CMA was renegotiating due to the FTC trial outcome. What actually happened was MS, knowing that time is running out and with a $3b bill looming (otherwise there is no need for this level of urgency everywhere), attempted to get CMA to accept a small, shitty divestiture. The CMA reminded them that it was too late for that and that the deal was still blocked, so MS is now trying to restructure and hoping ABK will stick around past Jul 18th.

Meanwhile, legal experts are tearing Corley's misquoting of very clear legislature a new one, making it easy for the FTC to appeal.
