Microsoft/Xbox did not believe in Redfall and wanted to end development quickly.

There's so much riding on that game that it for sure will fail to meet expectations.

People have this grand vision of it being 'lightning in a bottle Skyrim in space', when it most likely will be Fallout 4/76 with a space skin.

It's a new IP. That alone will damper it's impact. Then you have the fact that the reveal trailer barely tracked on Youtube, while games like Ragnarok and Tears of the Kingdom have incredible views.

Time will tell, but I pity anyone hoping for that game to be a masterpiece.

A little, only because Necro was so much fun lol
played 4 out of the five to level 25, barb i skipped out on.

-Wizard was absolutely amazing, 10/10
-Necro was solid, +fun to play, although it felt a bit samy towards the end of level 25 8.5/10
-Rogue, the first play-through, i had terrible skills and shit gear, second full respec into shadow was extremely powerful in nuking down mobs and bosses, 7/10-good fun
-Druid was painful, i mean shockingly bad, 2/10. terrible mana regen system, pet damage was no existent, slow as hell. They have addressed that though in a later patch, meant to be good now.

If Microsoft didn't believe in Redfall then why did they have it as their 'one more thing' closer for E3 2021? And then the following summer, they started their showcase with a trailer for it!

Nah, I don't buy it. I think the folks running Xbox were genuinely excited for it at some stage. They probably didn't realise how shit it was until late in development.

I am pretty much the same.
barb I lost interest in quickly. rogue I had trouble with at the start too, maybe they need to adjust them for the first few levels?

Rogue really seems dependent on legendaries, the sorc felt like i did not even need them, and rogue feels like a completely different class if you get one, the problem is you need to get something early for the class to be fun imo

Why is there always an excuse? Why do Xbox always eventually get away with these things and their customers just never move?

That's what I don't get.

If there was a game that just needs to be pushed out, it is Suicide Squad...they need to cut their losses. It won't be a hit.

Because Phil Spencer promised "next year will be better"

People also seem to have no idea what the game is (even after is was shown), go to the game sub Reddit and it looks like a bunch of people talking about an imaginary game that will be everything at the same time.

To me it just looks like Fallout in space with a huge No Man's Sky "influence".

Which is a bigger problem. The fact people at Zenimax after Fallout 76 don't have all their developers in good spots, shows that when Microsoft bought them, they were bleeding money from project mismanagement. How does anyone who is going to buy/merge another company into the fold not do their due diligence in seeing what the studios may/maynot need?
Someone should have intervened when the game was not shaping up. Microsoft came in and told them no PS5 version, did they not see the state of the game? Did Zenimax not bring it up to MS?

If what someone on gaf is saying comes true, then holy shit 2023 is not going to be great for xbox.
2024 Needs to have nothing but bangers like one after another. And I feel the only games that can move the needle are Fable which is way off, Avowed which restarted in 2021.

2023 really is do or die. If they dont show anything in June for the future that doesnt melt faces, I think its safe to assume the probability of the ship getting back on course is close to none.

i love him so much richard speight jr GIF

Xbox game studios, that hasn't released a true banger in like a decade, is suddenly going to reveal and release multiple bangers in 2024, and we haven't seen any gameplay footage yet?
That'd be the biggest plot twist since Cloud turned out to be impersonating Zack all along

Translation:
Having the chance to have in my clientele a lot of devs from Arkane Lyon, that's what comes out of it. Ms didn't really believe in redfall and seems to have wanted to finish development quickly. Arkane Lyon is working on a much more ambitious game I don't know more.

Fucking Great Management there Microsoft

This isn't true. Microsoft's ended a show with it and started another one with more Redfall footage.
They did believe in it and they put marketing money behind it. Arkane had one "miss".
It happens.

That's what you get when you don't have the balls to cancel a game when it looks like shit early on.

Gonna be blunt, I don't think media outlets would LET Starfield fail. They've all been trumpeting this as one of the most anticipated games of the last DECADE and a guaranteed GOTY contender. After this Redfall debacle. and how many of them have egg on their faces after the glowing previews they handed out like candy, not sure they could handle that.

Starfield is releasing within the next 6 months, so we're told. Yet we've only seen basic footage of someone shooting level 2 generic 'black outfit with guns' bad guys.

We haven't seen other classes in a Bethesda RPG. Are there other classes?
What other guns are there?
Do guns level up?
Is there customisation for guns?
What skill trees are there, if any?
What's the RPG element of the game?
What does the 'loot' look like and what is the 'loot' system?
There are 1000 planets, how do they tie in with the game or are they just Skyrim caves?
If they are Skyrim caves, why would I bother going to these planets?
What are the resolution and FPS at launch? If it isn't 60fps in a first person RPG then gtfo

There are too many unknowns surrounding this game, which is meant to be a banger and releasing shortly. We all know it's going to be a disaster and few of us want it to be because Bethesda used to be aight.

StarField at best is getting 80s at MC/OC.

That game is coming in sizzling hot.
Reviewers seem to not care about performance at all, except for Days Gone and TLoU Part I PC every game with terrible performance I can think of got great reviews including Cyberpunk, Skyrim, Jedi Survivor, Elden Ring and so on.
