Where it’s at.
The last time MS had decent market share (or expected to have) they bought exclusives from SquareEnix (Tomb Raider), Capcom (Dead Rising) and EA (Titanfall). Even just bringing this up now is absurd, MS only stopped doing it with big games because it doesn't work for them anymore but they still do it with indies and smaller games.
MS didn’t have market share when they got the Rise of the Tomb Raider deal, which was why they had to pay over $100 MILLION for one year of exclusivity.

That kind of money NOT giving a permanent exclusive shows how little desire third-parties had to make deals with MS last generation, and things are worse now.

Also, never forget that the Crystal Dynamics head negotiated the deal WITHOUT approval from SquareEnix HQ and was fired for it.

It's refreshing to see some good, old common sense applied to this issue. I'd like to think most people already knew this was the reason, but it doesn't help when people like Jez attempt to introduce a narrative.
They stir the us vs them narrative and outrage without any genuine insight or common sense.

It’s entertaining to a point, but you need to be grounded or you fall for the trap.

They expected to have since they were coming of the 360 were they had close to what the PS3 had in the end. I doubt that when they negotiated these deals they knew how disastrous the One gen would be (the Xbox One despite everything actually had a decent launch before sales dried out, a lot like the Series).

I think all 3 of these franchises were permanently damaged by those Xbox One deals and the same goes for Crytec and Remedy and their game deals with MS.

Modern Vintage Gamer sets the record….

This just exposes how much third party publisher are affected by Gamepass. They all become dependent on getting money from MS to put their game on Xbox for releasing games on Xbox to be worth.

As MS buys more studios they have less incentives to spend on these deals so the publishers are just left hanging after devaluing their own product in exchange for some money in the short term and a smaller audience.

This is my favourite bit from the response

Sony basically accusing the CMA of only using microsofts estimates that were calculated just for this case and not looking at other existing documents for evidence of foreclosure being worth it for MS that may be higher. Combine that with the comment that the CMA did this without explanation feels like CMA is falling for the MS pressure tactics.

Absolutely damning evidence of bias.

KFC greenburger really loves putting his foot in his mouth.

My favourite is when he made fun of halo outselling multiple Sony exclusives. Now Sony exclusives outsell top selling Xbox games like halo 3 on a regular basis.
Even that was pure trolling. Halo 3, was on market for 3 years, outselling uncharted,
2, resistance 2, killzone in usa (released in last 15 months) was nothing strange. Of course now he doesnt have anything to use so hes silent. Gota love Greenturd.

The fact that this clown still has a job at Xbox shows they can't be taken seriously and the same goes for Phil Spencer.
but i like them, they do good job for the Playstation. i need them stay on for ABK purchase. that they could help Playstation again.

If PlayStation does it's job it won't matter what Xbox will do. Sony already has the winning hand the question is if Jim Ryan and the Sony executives will fumble it all or not this time.

Sony is guaranteed a dominant position for the rest of this gen but they are taking many risks this time (like supporting PC, ignoring portables, being passive when it comes to acquisitions, being slow when it comes to showing games and so on).
