That peter guy is so dumb. It's precisely because Cloud is a "new" market that this is being blocked. Smaller markets tend to provide more opportunities for competition since the entry level is lower, therefore blocking the merger protects the customers from having so much market share under one or a couple of companies.

Microsoft already accounts for an estimated 60-70% of global cloud gaming services and has other important strengths in cloud gaming from owning Xbox, the leading PC operating system (Windows) and a global cloud computing infrastructure (Azure and Xbox Cloud Gaming).

The deal would reinforce Microsoft’s advantage in the market by giving it control over important gaming content such as Call of Duty, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft. The evidence available to the CMA indicates that, absent the merger, Activision would start providing games via cloud platforms in the foreseeable future.

So Activision was already positioning itself to release games in the Cloud after all. Big oooof

Yes it was blocked, I just wanted to clarify that it wasn't because of Sony, who focused on the console Market.

There is no way to know that. If Sony wasn't there opposing it thing could've gone in a different direction. This is all political, MS chose to make this move at a time where governments want to at least pretend they are putting up a fight.
