The cma is fighting for MS too hard here, so the whole saving face argument is out the door because the cma look stupid anyway after today. So the cma most likely got a call and told to play ball.

I think its better if people don't try to predict if an acquisition gets blocked or not from now on because a lot of people look stupid now. People went from "Its not going to pass, deal is dead" too "CMA will still block it" too now what we all see unfold. Some lessons we gotta to learn is too:

PlayStation is fully owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. SIE is not on any stock exchange. SIE is in private hands.

MS will likely just show up and outbid Sony and say they did it because Sony was going to buy them. That's why Sony need to got after Japanese companies, if MS can't do anything with them but destroy them.

Sony should call MS bluff and start expanding as well, but Sony right now just looks afraid. Actually forcing MS to buy even more companies like EA or Take-Two would benefit Sony since Xbox can support all that, the platform and Gamepass can't even support all the studios they already have.

This is like a poker game where Sony has the best possible hand but they are afraid to go all in because MS has way more chips.

I think its fine to make predictions but some people held on to theirs for far too long. There was one guy in here screaming "no, no, its dead, its dead!" on a loop this weekend. Just destroying his own credibility. Like read the room, MS was through the toughest part at that point and while the deal could still fail (or, more accurately, get unwound) its much less likely than it going through.
