Yes. Something went wrong with their servers and Xbox consoles require you to be online to play anything, even purchased games (that has recently been fixed). So for 4 days people were having issues playing their games.
Out of the mainstream media sites, only Kotaku reported on it and some youtubers.
Gamespot and IGN, the same ones that jumped on the PS4/5 CMOS battery issue, were nowhere to be seen. Not a single mention. Someone confronted Gamespot about it and they said: "We didn't have resources to cover that story that day". Or the next 3 days as well, apparently.
In their defense, nobody cares about actually playing games on Xbox.
The Youtuber Lobo seems to think that google complaining about microsofts cloud business practices is related to the abk deal. I hadnt considered google may be angling to gum it up from the cloud angle now that sony has seemingly gone radio silent about it now.

His podcasts are always right to the point, the first 15-25 minutes is him going over all the information at hand and his thoughts, Then moves on to interacting with the chat.
Google had concerns of pricing and licensing restricitons and that is exactly what can happen with the abk deal. Google is quite obviously against the deal, now we need amazon to pull their finger out.
Sony has always been silent about this really, i'm sure they are fighting the battle in the background like they have through out this whole process. They will no doubt making noise about the cloud SLC which is what can kill the deal right now, and maybe even try a diffrent angle to show CMA that MS can foreclose in the console market.
I made the mistake of looking at the era thread about this acquisition. Just posting ridiculous Destin and Jez videos and engaging in a general anti-Playstation circlejerk. A lot of speculation about whether Sony will be penalized for the grave sin of having more exclusives than Xbox last gen and daring to oppose Microsoft.
What is their end game/ideal industry I wonder? One where Xbox has 60 first party studios and Sony isn't even allowed to sign so much as a marketing deal?

Pretty much. They want Sony / PlayStation tied down or possibly nailed to some type of wooden bed so Microsoft can just walk over them at their leisure.
They talk about competition but that is the furthest thing from what they want.
They want an easy win. Like cutting off the legs of the other football team and then running out and scoring 10 goals and shooting fireworks into the air and pouring champagne all over each other and handing out medals and trophies in celebration. That is the great competition they want.
When this acquisition is finished, we will immediately see all the same 'neutrals' at Reset and Xboxera etc look to the next acquisition..... and it wont be some developer like Asobo or something innocuous..... it will be what they deem to be the company that will do the most damage to PlayStation by removing it from there....
Mark my words...these people are toxic, they live to hurt PlayStation gamers.
I think many of these people, the extreme XBox fans, are just going where MS leads them. MS, and ABK to a lesser degree, have been taking shots at Sony since this all began. We had Phil giving an interview where he talked about how Sony wants to grow bigger by making XBox smaller, we've had Kotick and Lulu criticizing Sony for not being pro-acquisition, etc. It's been non-stop manipulation of fans and the general public, with the help of influencers and certain media outlets. Some people are easily controlled by this type of campaign and some aren't.
For this reason, I don't pay too much attention to the extreme fans. Most of them don't know what they're talking about because they deal in emotion over facts. You can see it in how the way the industry has always operated is suddenly all wrong. Well, of course it is - because MS is trying to change the industry to one where they dominate. Basically, MS has weaponized their fanbase (with support from ABK because Lulu and Bobby want their big paydays) and that's who I place the majority of the blame on for the toxicity we're seeing.
The funny part is seeing how this has not made even the slightest dent in PS' sales of hardware and software. It's almost as if giving customers what they want is the way to success in this market. And it's a lesson that, even after two decades, MS has still failed to learn. And no amount of astroturfing and manipulation is going to change that reality.
