My Opinion: Xbox should buy PlayStation and end the console wars

MS buying Sony/PS would ruin Sony's studios with bad management.... I think hardware wise the current consoles are more or less equivalent, but if someone think that there is a giant edge for MS, whatever suits you.

So all we would have is less competition with one less great publisher to make games, really bad idea.

And where does come that assumption up of yours? There is nothing what would indicate to another buyout by MS. The FTC is this time really persistent with checking Microsoft and in the beginning it wasn’t for a long time guaranteed, that the acquisition will go through.

So what makes you think another acquisition will be no problem? That’s not how regulatory works and you don’t seem to understand how economics works in general. Japanese publishers you can count out, this will never sell to MS. So remain only publishers from the west. Microsoft will clearly not be able to buy another huge publisher. They will never get this approved!

This would be the one of the worst if not the worst timeline ever! Seriously take the console wars out of it and think about this since Sony is an conglomerate:

1. Sony is the worlds biggest supplier of lens in out smartphone camera (Thanks to the PS3 cell tech) so we would be counting on Microsoft to keep suplling the latest camera lens in the new iphone and other smartphones

2. Sony's point and shoot camera's are amazing, I can't see Microsoft wanting to get into the camera business

3. Sony's Xperia Smartphones are now giving samsung and even iphones a real run for their money, this is good in getting other smartphones makers in check and we all saw what happened to the windows phone

4. Is microsoft really capable of running Sony's movie division? how would that even work?

my bad, i just assumed that in order to get PlayStation away from Sony they would have to pretty much buy Sony but I guess they could make some absurd offer to Sony they could not resist but that would be a huge stretch

This is something I don't get about some Xbox fans. They don't want to have better games - they want to destroy Sony. It's an interesting way of seeing things.

They want the games PlayStation is making but they want them made by Xbox.

We see it every time, they shit on Uncharted but blow their load when Tomb Raider is made exclusive or some Indiana Jones game is announced. They deeply dislike and mock Gran Turismo but somehow like Forza a game that is pretty much MS's attempt to clone GT (they care so much about Forza that the last one was delisted after just 4 years). They talk shit about games having cutscenes but don't mind them in Gears. They hate on Kojima for year and then suddenly are huge Kojima fans because some sort of cloud game no one knows what it is got announced.

The list is endless. We also see it with third-party games, Yakuza, Persona and you bet that the same will happen once/if FFVII Remake gets announced for Xbox. They mocked PS4 for it's focus on indies and look at what they say now with Gamepass. Then the games that they hype so much like Halo are released on Gamepass and F2P and it flops somehow.

The reality is, only the really hardcore Xbox fans haven't jumped ship yet, truly deranged individuals that feed on fantasies that their favorite trillion dollar company will bully actual competent platform holders out of the market. What is left is those people and casuals that just want to pay as little as possible to play something or want a cheap console to play some annualized franchise.

They are literally not getting any new game (!) after spending that $100 billion. All those games -- Starfield, Redfall, ES6, COD, Diablo, Overwatch 2, Hellblade 2 etc. -- would have come to Xbox anyway.

With Sony's strategy, at least we'd be getting additional games. For example, Deviation and Haven wouldn't be studios and wouldn't be creating these games if Sony didn't fund and set 'em up.
